The Official Mark Roberts Appreciation Thread

There are a huge number of contributors that are recognized here on a regular basis. Mark Roberts is only one of many, albeit in my opinion, one of the best. Others include MikeW, Brainster and JamesB, MarkyX, ref, apathoid, CheapShot... a complete reckoning will be quite extensive, but you get the idea.

Why does it bother you that some folks are appreciative of others' work? Provided that work is factual and educational, which it is in Mark's case, I hardly see any comparison to Avery's doings. Totally different situation.

Have you heard of R.Mackey? He's up there too :)

I will especially appreciate gravy come Thursday, as my sister-in-law will be cooking the turkey. She always gets it too dry...

It doesn't bother me. However, I do find it quite curious. Mark Roberts is infamous among my circles, so to see the adoration here surprises me. Some of the comments were funny, but all of it reminded me of the way the Loose Change fan club idolizes boy wonder. It may be different, but it is certainly similar.

As I said no offense intended. I really thought it was a joke...

One important difference between Gravy and Dylan is that Dylan bans people who disagree with him from his forum. If you don't believe that, try disagreeing sometime. Then come back here and ask someone to hook you up with a proxy if you still feel like viewing there.

Gravy doesn't have that power here, nor would he exercise it if he did. He'd rather make Truthers look like the loons (IMO) they are.

I've turned several people around from the dark side merely by directing them to the Gravy vs. Bermas/Avery Hardfire, as well as pointing people to Gravysites.

Well done. I wish I were as patient as you with the nutbars.

Keep fighting the good fight, Mark.

and Gravy doesn't photoshop himself onto Rolling Stone covers

I know all about the blatant censorship at LCF and Dylan's tactics for handling people who disagree with him, I have been banned there myself.

Gravy doesn't have that power here, nor would he exercise it if he did.
I was curious if Roberts ran this forum, I guess that he is just the David Koresh or Ron Hubbard around here. He certainly sounds like "an all around good guy."

No, Xena, that's not true. We're skeptics here; we don't follow anyone blindly. We ask for evidence, and Mark provides it. Look at the links in his sig; all his own compilations, all thoroughly sourced, and all very much things Twoofers don't want to hear.

Whatever leadership position Mark has here, he's earned with his dedication and his hard work. But if he posted something that was wrong, we'd be all over it. Count on that.

That would be refreshing and I hope it is true. I have seen this phenomenon happen over and over and over again. It is more than just disappointing to me. It suppresses open dialogue and creates a mob mentality type environment that leads to hostility and hatred.

The Skeptics have pleasantly surprised me...

His biggest mistake... ;)

Come on... let's see that photo of Golden Boy. I am not allowed to add links yet or I would post it.

Great point jhunter. To expand on this, most of the people who have been given credit in this thread have approached the members of this forum specifically asking us to review and critique their work. They do the same at many of the forums that hold an opposing view. In all cases, valid criticisms are always addressed and the work revised, whether it is a website, video, or white paper. As jhunter mentioned, this is just what a skeptic does.

Mark's site kicks ass. He needs to be recognized for his excellent work. That's my opinion anyway. He puts the know in 9/11 knowledge. Not to take away from all the other contributers here. All greatly appreciated.

I don't usually get into backslapping kudosfests, no matter how well deserved (and if there's anyone here at or near the top of the "respect" list debunking-wise, it's Gravy, no question; I wanna debunk like him when I grow up :)).

But, to participate in the spirit of the thread in my own way, I present some Mark Roberts facts:
  • Mark Roberts counted to infinity - twice.
  • Mark Roberts once visited the Virgin Islands. They are now just The Islands.
  • Mark Roberts' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.
  • Mark Roberts can speak braille.
  • Mark Roberts owns the greatest Poker Face of all-time. It helped him win the 1983 World Series of Poker despite him holding just a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
  • Mark Roberts can do a wheelie on a unicycle.
  • Mark Roberts once won a game of Connect Four in 3 moves.
  • Once a cobra bit Mark Roberts' leg. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died.
  • Mark Roberts died ten years ago, but the Grim Reaper can't get up the courage to tell him.

  • Mark Roberts sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Mark roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn't stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.
  • Mark Roberts was once on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and was the first to spin. The next 29 minutes of the show consisted of everyone standing around awkwardly, waiting for the wheel to stop.
  • Mark Roberts can play the violin with a piano.
  • Death once had a near-Mark-Roberts experience.
  • The reason newborn truthers cry is because they know they have just entered a world with Mark Roberts.
  • When Mark Roberts enters a room, he doesn't turn the lights on, he turns the dark off.
  • M.C. Hammer learned the hard way that Mark Roberts can touch this.

  • Mark Roberts once bowled a 300. Without a ball. He wasn't even in a bowling alley.
  • Mark Roberts can make a paraplegic run for his life.
  • Mark Roberts doesn't use pickup lines, he simply says, "Now."
  • When God said, "Let there be light", Mark Roberts said, "say please."
  • The only time Mark Roberts was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistake.
  • The last digit of pi is Mark Roberts. He is the end of all things.

  • The saddest moment for a truther is not when he learns Santa Claus isn't real, it's when he learns Mark Roberts is.
  • Mark Roberts cannot predict the future; the future just better do what Mark Roberts says.
  • We all know the magic word is please. As in the sentence, "Please don't kill me." Too bad Mark Roberts doesn't believe in magic.
:D

Another point is that several times moderators have stepped in and corrected Mark when he's crossed the line. He's not immune from having to follow the rules here any more than I am or you are, and is held to the same standard.

XenaWarriorPrincess,

This thread is not meant to kiss Mark's ass. It was meant to recognize the tremendous contributions Mark has made on this forum. If you thought the intent of this thread was the former then I am sorry for the misinterpretation.

Well, I usually don't congratulate anybody other than those in uniform (Both civil and Military), or thank people for doing the right thing. But, since Mark has, in my eyes, earned a thank you for his efforts and concern with facts and not mindless rhetoric, I will extend a hand in congratulation and a stern "keep up the good work". Hell be happy with that, when I was a fire team leader I made my guys do push-ups, and then tell them good job, when I was proud of them... LOL
