Most atheists do not know what science says about our origins

The origin of life is a crucial part (if not the most important question) of the Theist/Atheist debate. Yet I contend that most atheists are not aware that all life (the blue whales, the insects, the elephants, the octopuses, the trees in the redwood forests, the butterflies, the cactus, the humans, all the dinosaurs, and the multi-millions of other plant and animal species) that have ever existed are descended from the "same" one celled organism. (according to modern science)

I would estimate that no more than 10 percent of all atheists know that modern science believes that all the millions of "plant and animal" species that have ever existed came from the "same" organism (and that first organism that we all came from was a one celled bacteria).

1. "Science" doesn't claim that we come from a single one celled organism.
2. I'm willing to guess that 91.432342% of all atheists know that science doesn't claim that we all come from a single one celled organism. The remaining athiests are still too busy filling their diapers with poop to weigh in on the subject.

I'm disappointed. I was sure that this was going to be a "Dead Scientist X was a Christian" thread.

I'm guessing that 23.52635499926245666% of all atheists like Raisin Bran.

What's your point?

Why don't your threads ever have a valid, useful, and obvious point?

can you explain where it says
that all of life "that have ever existed are descended from the "same" one celled organism"

You've got to assume that this pseudo-point came up on some fundamentalist Christian website, for some delusional reason or other, and DOC has been kind enough to share the non-thinking with us. :D

Even if it was true, what would it prove?

Nothing much, except that DOC still doesn't (or refuse to) understand that

a) The theory of evolution and the theory of abiogenesis has -nothing- to do with atheism.

b) It's not a matter of how many knows something, what matters is the actual evidence.

Where do you get this estimated figure? Did you base it on any sort of data or did you just make it up?

I already corrected this error for you. There are several single celled organisms known to evolve.

However, the DNA of all multicelled organisms and those with nuclear membranes and organelles (eukaryots) show that we have a common ancestor in a single multicelled organism. But that is beyond your understanding.

And what is your opposing theory? That things poofed into existence with fossilized remains in the genetic code of their genomes that they no longer use but just happen to be active in visually related species? Where is the evidence. Or did you get your science from the book about talking snakes and a 6000 year old earth?

Here's what "science" says... but you have to have a wee bit of education to comprehend...

And if you learn about genomes and the DNA code that is contained in all life forms (even the trillions that live in your guts) -- (you know that stuff your omnipotent guy forgot to mention) you will understand how we know this to be the case.

Pulled from hind quarters--as most of his statistics are... but they help prop up his delusion, and that is all that matters.
Well you know that pi*23% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

But of that 23.52635499926245666%, 28.8808% sift through and eat all the raisins first. Then a whopping 87.56% of those don't bother to eat the flakes at all, they just chuck them!
