WDUQ vs. Planned Parenthood?

Public radio forced to be silent about prevention?
It seems impossible, but WDUQ, the flagship NPR affiliate in Pittsburgh, refuses to air Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania's prevention message. After allowing Planned Parenthood to underwrite news segments for only two days, the public radio station decided they could no longer accept our donation and tell the listening audience about comprehensive sexuality education, cancer screening, or infection screening.

I know Duquesne University has the right to decide what to put on air but that doesn't mean I have to like the fact a Catholic university is stiffling speech I feel is necessary for the public health.

And to think, I was just about guilted into supporting the station.

I'm trying to understand why the catholic run place was taking PP money in the first place!

What happened, did the Planned Parenthood PSAs catch the marketing staff off-guard with their message?

I don't know, but my guess is no one in the university was paying attention until it got through.

However, that's total supposition on my part.

I would never have tried to make this story up, too strange, but there you go, it happened.

I agree, but from their point of view, which includes a skydaddy who'll get mad at you for sex for pleasure outside marriage, their viewpoint is a logical conclusion.

It's the premise that's flawed.

And, of course, in the deconstructionist, follow-the-money sense, wherein religion is a fraudulent meme designed to gain people power, and therefore money, and therefore an easier life, it still falls into place. They are afraid of losing money, i.e. donations, either as a university or NPR money.
