Jonathan Cainer the astrologer

I second the question Lisa asked; you have no proof that Huge didn't supply his birth time.

Secondly, lets assume he didn't; Cainer accepted the "challange" based on what ever information was provided...he could have said "I couldn't do a proper reading because you didn't give me a birth time" but that didn't happen.

Instead, he did a reading and then tried to explain why it was accurate when it clearly was not.

If this video shows anything, its how silly Cainer was/is....and my goodness what was that getup he was wearing? Geesh....

i agree his comment «i got that one right» was silly. But that doesnt change the fact the test was less than convincing

you must have real nerve to say that??!!!
No excuse for Cainer...no excuse for Randi.

You've not shown that Randi did anything wrong....Cainer accepted the "challange" with what ever information (complete or otherwise) that was provided AND failed.

My dear.... If Randi knows anything about astrology he should know birthtime is essential. Either he doesnt know or doesnt care, which means, that like his chinese chart tells me, he is utterly unscrupulous:mad:

Um, how do you account for the fact that "time" has been standardized?

For example, it is exactly 6:35 p.m. in both Norfolk, Virginia and Norton Virginia, however Norton is almost 400 miles due west of Norfolk. The amount of time it will take the earth to spin so that Norton is in the same position as Norfolk is about 1/5 of an hour, or 12 minutes. Do your birth time calculations take this into account? If so, how exactly is that done? If not, why is birthtime so important?

For that matter, consider the fact that it is right now 5:41 p.m. in Kermit, Texas. Then consider the fact that it is 4:41 p.m. in Nenzel, South Dakota. The interesting thing about this is that Nenzel, SD is east of Kermit, Texas. Nothing that can be done to the earth's rotation - no amount of time spent waiting - can bring Kermit into the same time as Nenzel.

These irregularities and approximations being commonplace all across the world, how is it that birth time is so necessary to do a correct star chart?

What wasn't convincing? He took the challenge and failed. If he couldn't do a reading without the birth time, he shouldn't have accepted. Duh.

Another thread about superstitious beliefs held by fools and practiced by frauds.

Astrology is a scam.

Shame on you, idunno.

i think you heard too many «shame on you» from your daddy when you were a kid and now you think it will inpress me like it did to you. Shame on youi...

i also say duh and pooh to Randi

What did Mr. Randi do wrong? Again, if the astrologer couldn't do an accurate reading without a birth time, why did he accept? Why is his ill-thought out acceptance of a challenge he couldn't fulfill Mr. Randi's fault?

Ok...after reading it 3 times I finally got it. Brick did it, not me (said for Fran and JTJ's benefit).

Curse my lack of spelling ability and proof reading....why me!! :)

*LOL* You should be grateful for me giving you Brick, I think, you can always blame stuff on him ;)

And it took me a while to get it too :) I didn't know Hugh was huge either :)

Funny, I just watched this very clip... was it the day before yesterday? I think.

Well, you really have to twist your thinking quite a bit into what you want to believe, and not see reality as it is - if you manage to make that into Randi being a fraud, and that astrologer making a successful reading.

And why do you sound like it is some sort of widely known fact in astrology circles the world over that Hugh Laurie never reveals his birth date? That just sounds weird.

It's the birth time the astrologer was missing, not birth day. Because of course, people born on the same day, in the same place but at different times will be different from each other. Who'da thunk it?

By the way, I really like Hugh Laurie.

I would so love to watch you interact with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Frye, or with Hugh Laurie as House.

They would eat you alive.

Actually with this pathetic attempt to draw pointless and undeserved attention, it is quite obvious that you have no shame.:jaw-dropp :jaw-dropp :jaw-dropp

Great. How?

Here's an interesting aside - according to the Season 2 finale, Hugh Laurie and Dr. Greg House have the same birthdate.
