Men in Black - reality?

A friend of mine, whose parents were apparently big in UFO circles back in the 1950's, swore Men in Black were not only real, he actually saw one! It was at some UFO get-together his parents hosted. A Man in Black showed up to observe the proceedings. Later, when the attendees were relaxing to music, the MiB asked my friend's mother to dance(!) during which he gravely informed her "Do you really think what you're doing is wise?"

My friend, although given to a wide array of wooish beliefs, was otherwise stable and not given to delusions. So I do believe that he actually met someone whom he took to be a MiB, or else the person was having a little joke at his parents' expense.

Trippy man!!! :eye-poppi

There's no way I'd ever put together a UFO conference without hiring a couple of guys to play MiBs. The added paranoia would sell a TON more books and other alien protection merchandise. :)

To help out the little green men.

Did you know that, "LGM" was the original semi-official name given to pulsars when they were first discovered? It was believed that anything with a rhythm had to be generated by an intelligence from outer space.

That's the attitude that is needed if humans are to keep progressing. Not blank-stared belief in UFOs . . . but we need to be open to the possibility. All the folks who saw the moon landing were hoping to see aliens even though they knew no life can exist in a vaccume.

To believe that this indicates some kind of "space fever" where the people involved just believe anything that comes rolling along would be suggesting that everyone is crazy. All of the United States was watching in the sixties. I refuse to believe that they were all nuts. People get confused but they are not crazy.

Your attitude is innapropriate.

Neither would I . . . unless I was laid out (unconscious) by a high-tech sound or microwave weapon utilized by an Alex Trebek look-alike employed by the military. You know, sailors used to fry sea gulls with the microwave aimer for their large guns. Microwaves tell them if they are on target or something like that.

At least that's what I heard. :boggled:
Some things men do without the need to be conscious. Undressing when in bed with a women like Gillian Anderson should be a reflex.

JJR, would you please look into this little red light for a moment?

Sure . . . remember, though that I have, "Drug consciousness" and can re-word everything you ask under hypnosis or truth syrum and still lie to you by telling the literal truth. All I have to do is prime myself.

The mind is facinating. The subconscious in particular. What lies deep in the savage darkness behind the scenes but everpresent in our society? What does the primal mind want?

If you knew, would you be more in control of your mind? Is THIS the road to inner peace and personal perfection??

Believing in things there is no evidence for is NOT evolving. It's pretty much the exact opposite.

That would be a good reflex and the subconscious performing such an action would be very cool. Especially the tearing her up from behind part.

Gillian Anderson is SUPER hot!!!

It looks like english and I seem to recognize all the constituent words, but they are not arranged in a manner I can comprehend.

Strange that the scientists labled the pulsars what they did, then. Are creative minds always prone to fragmentation from reality? Seems so . . .

As one who's always been called one of those creative types... yes. Yes we are. ;)

Creative minds can also have a sense of humor. Ever consider the posibility it was done as an inside joke?

Well, for instance if you asked me if I work for the government I could always answer, "Yes. I pay taxes" . . . and that would be the literal truth. Drug consciousness is an interesting phenomenon.

Perhaps you should volunteer for a study in it. You would get paid, and you would walk away with a new ability.

Possibly . . . but all the well-educated men in America still had hopes of seeing an alien (like . . . rock lizzards who don't need to breathe) when they watched the moon landing. Sounds like coroborating evidence or whatever to me.

I'm sure the pulsar thing was part joke, but perhaps it was part something else also . . .

And there's that.

Thing about being creative is to never confuse it with logic. Took me a lifetime to finally figure it out, but regardless of how detailed one can make a fantasy that fits within the realm of possibility... without some semblence of actual proof (or worse yet, with proof that doesn't stand up to scrutiny), it's simply that; fantasy.

The weird side of me would LOVE to be proven wrong, and that makes it practical to be here just in case someone ever takes Randi's million bucks because I'm ready and willing to accept any holistic cure, Loch Ness Sasquatch, or fantastic conspiracy theory the second it is proven with real evidence instead of... in the least pathetic ulterior motive these beliefs are advanced by people who should know better... fantasy.

There's no denying that faith is prejudice. Personal prejudice, as I learned about when I read, "Rocket Ship Galleleo" by Robert A. Heinlein. One of the characters asked the others to explain why they believed there was a dark side of the moon. He said a bite out of an apple is a possibility, but a "rainbow effect" is also possible . . . that when you go to the other side, it ain't there!

The character stated after the exercise in logic that he believed that it was just normal rock . . . because of personal prejudice. The idea of a lack of prejudice was explored in, "Stranger in a Strange Land" with the introduction of the Legal Witness . . . someone who has authority in a Court of Law as a witness (their word is just taken as the truth). They are trained to be completely logical, and if you ask them what color a house is, they will say, "This side is white" . . . and no more.

Facinating. ;)
