Hmm... More Republican "family values"?
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani may not be able to count on support from his own daughter, Slate.com reported Monday.
On his daughter Caroline’s Facebook profile, the self-described liberal was a part of a group that supports Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential bid.

Sure, presidential candidates have had questionable relatives before (Billy Carter, Ron Reagan Jr., Mary Cheney, Neil Bush) but it's pretty bad when your own daughter won't vote for you.

Of course, it might have something to do with the kind of father he was.
Since his very public divorce from his second wife and his marriage to Judith Nathan, Giuliani’s relationship with his children has been strained. Giuliani stopped going to his children’s events, missing Andrew’s high school graduation and Caroline’s plays, the Times also reported.

Oh yeah, I know ugly divorces tend to polarize families, but something like this is bound to detract from Guiliani's desperate lunge for "family values" voters. Then again, being a complete asshat to his own family never seemed to hurt Newt Gingrinch.

Family is very important to the voters! That's why I voted for Kerry over Bush last election, his daughters were much hotter than the Bush twins. And that's why I'm supporting Clinton, Chelsea is a knockout since her makeover!:D

Yeah, but you're much more likely to get lucky with one (or both) of the Bush twins. They have their own idea of "supporting the party".
 
Personally, I'm mre impressed that his wife's handbag gets it's own seat on planes. Cars I could see but....

No direct analogy. Given the Swifties for Truth, his performance in 'Nam was highly relevant and the fact that his crew supported him was thus crucial.

So Caroline doesn't care for pop based on an unpleasant (at best) divorce. *yawn* The only possible significance is the morals crowd, and they're gonna be down on him for the three divorces - especially the second one, not because Caroline has her nose all bent out of shape. Whoever orginally wrote this story had nothing to do since Paris fell off the front page. I wish his/her editor would assign her/him to the obits.

PS: Could some grammar Nazi please approve the use of "their" for usage in the singular. It'd save wear and tear on my keyboard. :)

If she shows her tits to a camera, however, we have a news story of merit. So, when does she flash the camera? Any bets? Playboy? Hustler? Vanity Fair? Cosmo?

No, the analogy is not direct, but it is similar. Person or people who have had a long opportunity to observe a candidate's "leadership" have come out against them. Maybe not of great significance, but certainly some. Sure, motive is important, but don't tell me the Swift Boat Veterans were simply concerned because Kerry was not a good commander. It might have had something to do with their political leanings.

In any case, it is a story just as anything relating to candidates is a story. It is (or should be) much more of a story than anything to do with Paris Hilton. Of course, Caroline, not being of voting age, couldn't even vote against her father if the election were held today, but she'll be 18 come election time next year.

By the way, what governance board decides if something is "a story" or not?
 
I would bet quite a bit her Facebook is set to private after this...

Hmmm. Maybe it has more to do with being a rebellious child, strange thing, who attracts those who would tear down your father, buttering you up and making you feel important in exchange for a few embarassing sentences out of your mouth, than any kind of rational thought.
 
Having a child of a frontrunner candidate support someone else is blurb worthy no matter what or who the candidate is.

But yeah, its a slow news day when its on the front page.
 
I caught this yesterday on SLATE as well. It could be worse: she could be supporting one of Giuliani's Republican challengers (or Clinton). Instead she listed her politics as liberal, which suggests a familiar generational divide (Obama does appeal to the young ones). I guess it does mean something when a kid refuses to support her father for president. It's too bad the revelation was wasted for an online news site; if somebody posed the question to an unprepared Giuliani then it would have been golden.
 
If Giuliani did become president, I wonder how much secret service protection his ex wife and children would get?
