In college, I had a late night Conan-esque talk show on our college station, and one night our show went live, so we did live new cutins. Our breaking story was that Bush had commissioned Batboy to find Bin Laden...but at the end it turns out Batboy's Sonar didn't pick up a wall and he flew into it and died.

WWN - in print for 28 years (shutting down print production next month)
PP - never in print

oh no... they're canceling WWN??

They are stopping print production, but it will be available online.

<snip>(CBS/AP) An angel of death has visited Earth! Aliens have pulled off an abduction! A mystery ailment has claimed a victim!

Weekly World News, the tabloid that for 28 years has chronicled sightings of Elvis, extraterrestrial activity and the exploits of Bat Boy, is no more. Its publisher said Tuesday it would put out its last issue next month, maintaining only a Web presence.

The People who write the Weekly World News know that what they write is total crap (although often amusing crap).
The Prison Planet people think what they write is "THE TRUTH!".

Then there is the little fact that the WWN is a huge joke (and they often throw you a wink to confirm this fact) and the Prison Planet takes itself dead seriously.
