Just have a quick question.

How was it possible the Pentagon was hit 1 hour and 20 minutes after the attacks began? Why was there no response from Andrews Air Force Base, just 10 miles away and home to Air National Guard units charged with defending the skies above the nation''s capital?

Yay, another one.

well, after all, it had all those SAM sites on the front law didn't it? veeeery suspicious indeed.

Andrews? Are you talking about the group of sister singers?

Or maybe it's a dog. I had a dog named Andrew once? Is the s a mistake?

Yeah!

And whatever happened to April Gallops account of those SAM's? I haven't heard that one in awhile...isn't it about due again?

You can look up the answer to that latter question for yourself. I am curious though why you start the clock at about 8:17, when clearly the first it was known with any certainty that this was an attack on the US was at about 9:03 AM.

How many fighters at Andrews, and how many of them were combat ready and not just on alert?

During the Cold War, we had fighters armed and ready, and a rotation of pilots who could jump into those planes at a moment's notice. Once the Cold War was over, the "Peace Dividend" kicked in, and there weren't any fighters or crew that were kept combat ready. Fighters that were on alert could take several hours to make combat ready.

Andrews was not an alert base as of 9/11. You'll find answers to the common conspiracist claims about the military response at my site, linked in my sig.

Mortimer, your statement isn't accurate. There were 7 alert bases in the U.S. on 9/11, each with 2 fighters armed and ready to launch on short notice. On the east coast, those bases were Otis ANG on Cape Cod and Langley in Virginia. Fighters were launched from those bases in response to the hijackings but did not have sufficient time or information to intercept any of the airliners. Also, AA 77, which hit the Pentagon, made its turn towards D.C. in an area that lacked primary radar coverage. ATC was looking for it along its projected flight path. The Secret Service did contact Andrews to see if they had planes available, but they had none that were armed and ready.

Ok... I got real lazy... This is actually not my question... I'm in a never ending argument on a 9/11 facebook group.... Most of the time.. I do research and get the answer pretty quick..... I looked for about 30 seconds... couldn't find exactly what I was looking for... SO I took the lazy mans way of simply cutting and pasting the same question on here... hoping some human 9/11 conspiracy debunker encyclopedia could just hammer off an answer in about 2 minutes that would be better and more complete then anything I could find.... Thanks for the help !!

Hey, nobody has ever asked this one before!

Ow!! Stop hitting me!

How many times before?

Really?

I don't know--do you think he's serious?

Caper- you are right. We have done so well all the other times that the USA has been attacked from foreign jets, submarines, and tanks. We should have done much better.

I have no doubt that if flight 93 did not go down in PA..it would have been shot down over VA.

We are a super power..but we are not untouchable.

They have no airplanes on alert with weapons on 9/11 (AT AAFB). Next. (the alert armed aircraft were at other bases)

Plus when did you call the local AFB and tell them to shoot down an airliner that no one knew where it was?

How did you know the Pentagon was a target?

Do you really want SAM sites to shoot down aircraft near your home? Do you know where things go when you shoot them up?

Sorry for the BS but when did you do something on 9/11 due to the attacks?

Sneaky terrorist used airliners, it is necessary to make sure you have a positive terrorist plane before you shoot it down and it crashes into a day care center. We are lucky it hit a hard target like the Pentagon and not a shopping mall.

Some BS, but look at Langley, I think a set of planes was at Langley. The other planes on alert were at Otis. But the standard stuff for fighters is intercept of idiots who mess up coming into US airspace from overseas. Rare were intercepts over the USA ground of anything. Rare to have jets run around with live missiles over live people in the US. But that was pre 9/11. There are some things here as seen below from Viper - http://www.911myths.com/html/andrews_afb.html

Yeah... again it wasn't my question. Someone elses. Got real lazy and decided to leave it to the experts.

So basically what is being asked is "why didn't the military completely start disregarding its own policies on a random morning when nothing appeared out of the ordinary?"

You know, because that would be so much less suspicious.

Caper, don't go away mad.

Would it surprise you to know that NO ONE in the Air Force knew about AA77 until AFTER it hit the Pentagon? Not even the fighters already airborne knew about it. Guess somebody forget, huh? Is that fishy or what?

Caper- to reiterate my point, never in the history of the USA have we been attacked by jets. our air force has simply not trained for what happened on 9-11, multiple jets being hijacked used as missiles.

Your "friend" is coming from the juvenile assumption that we have planned for everything and are prepared for anything. This is just not so. We are big and bad...but every once in a while..we get caught with our pants down.

I know, its very demoralizing as an American to think we could be suckered by "arabs in caves". But, poop happens.

I don't think Caper is a conspiracy theorist lol. Although, I also got that impression after the OP.

Welcome to the forums Caper :)

NEADS did learn about flight 77 a few minutes before it hit the Pentagon. Indianapolis ATC center had been aware that it was missing but failed to contact the military. You can get answers at the sites mentioned above.
