I think my brain seized when I read this. Did he really just say that Indian Casinos are evidence that the Wholsome Christian Settlerstm were a good thing to the Evil Pagan Nativestm?

Actually recreational gambling is not a sin in the Catholic religion. Of course it can become a sin if you let it do harm to you or your family.

And gambling games have a "long history" of being a part of Native American culture... Don't the Pequots now own the biggest casino in the world in Connecticut.

NO! NO! NO!

you originally claimed that the christianity was good for the native americans becuase it protected them from crazed, evil people like napoleon and Hitler from wiping them out.

What Slingblade showed was that christianity was used to commit attrocity on the native americans. It didn't protect them, like you seem to believe. It made them more at danger.

Couple this with the fact that entire civilizations were wiped out in south america at the hands of the true christian spaniards, and you see that christianity protected the native americans from NOTHING!

See, at this point, you have only two options
1.) Admit you were wrong and drop that entire line of thought
2.) Become a complete fool and receive nothing but insult and scorn.

So, I see you have decided to take option 2?

Alright, you completely horrible human being. I do not enjoy this, but so be it.

I am supremely happy that your foolish, petty worthless god who is obviously hatefilled and evil has no real effect on this world. Only the delusional fools who think like you and worship such a false diety do. I can only hope that your kind will be eliminated by the morally just and righteous secular forces that founded this great nation. You are a relic of a hateful, evil past, and one that has no place in our civilization.

PS, i do not beleive DOC is an example of all christians but does represent all that can go horribly wrong in faith.

And this is relevant...How?

Do not go there. If your other posts are any indication, what you know about "Native American culture" (which one?) might fit on the head of a hypothetical pin.

The same "Pequots" (it's Pequot, singular and plural) that are now largely extinct thanks to those loving Christian buddies of yours? Look up the "Pequot War" sometime. They cover it in those high school history classes you seem to think are being controlled by a secular humanist conspiracy.

For the love of Christ, at least pretend to research this stuff before spouting off garbage.

In the DVD commentary* they mention that apparently the "chief" was the owner of their favorite sushi bar. :D

(* Which is priceless--Trey, Matt, and a couple of other guys sat down with some scotch and just let things fall where they may. It's hilarious.)

Gambling and Dice Games of various tribes.

Personally, I think the world is better off with people shooting dice for entertainment than shooting guns and arrows. If some people don't like casinos they can save their money and move out to the country.

Yes they did, very briefly. Then things went downhill fast.

The Wampanoags are most famous for greeting and befriending the Pilgrims in 1620, bringing them corn and turkey to help them through the difficult winter and starting a Thanksgiving tradition that is still observed today. Unfortunately, the relationship soon soured. As more British colonists arrived in Massachusetts, they began displacing the Wampanoags from their traditional lands, particularly by plying Wampanoag men with alcohol and obtaining their signatures on land sale documents while they were drunk. The Wampanoag leader Metacomet, known as "King Philip" to the English, tried to get this practice outlawed, and when the British refused, a war ensued. The British won decisively, sold many of the Wampanoag survivors into slavery, drove the rest into hiding, and forbade the use of the Massachusett language and Wampanoag tribal names. Only in 1928 were the Wampanoag people able to reclaim their tribal identity.

And there are several very rich tribes out there because of Indian Gaming.
That certainly makes up for the centuries of war waged against those who's land this was when Europeans arrived. The Trail of Tears, Col. John Chivington, Wounded Knee, Bad Axe, Bloody Island Massacre, Kaibai Creek, Gunther Island, Bear River, Keyesville, Sand Creek, Washita, Marias. A small price to pay to be able to exploit white people for a change.

So not everything turned out so bad. It's certainly more peaceful now on the North American Continent than before the Europeans came.
Sure, aside from the wars against the native peoples, the French and Indian War, The Revolutionary War, The War of 1812, The Spanish American War, The Mexican American War, Bleeding Kansas, and the Civil War.
