For fun, let's give existing gods new roles in science and rank them accordingly to the reduction of science. I don't know which forum this goes into. Science, religion, whatever. Hopefully this is the right one :)

I'll start off with a few examples to show you how.

Top Ranking Gods - Gods for math and logic.

Upper Ranking Gods - Gods for physics and chemistry

Middle Ranking Gods - Gods for biology, geology, and all the major sciences proceeding from chemistry or physics.

Low Ranking Gods - Gods that are specific to the middle ranking gods. Neurology is specific to biology, for example.

Bottom Ranking Gods - Gods that are specific to humans. Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology.

Here's a few..........

Prometheus: God of technology

Status: Bottom Rank
Origins: Greek god that brought fire to humans.
Abilities: Is responsible for human creativity, reasoning capacity, and progress.
Story: Death, the god of evolution, decides which organisms live and die. Death wiped out all less than intelligent homonids and eventually humans emerged. Prometheus was given responsibility over human insight. Prometheus sometimes usurp's death's command by allowing human technology to kill other organisms. Since human ingenuity has caused great advances in physics and chemistry, Prometheus even has the power to go beyond the commands of the Upper gods, although humans are still subbordinate to their laws of physics and chemistry.

Death (Grim Reaper): God of evolution

Status: Middle Rank
Origins: Personifcation of death found in major religions.
Abilities: Responsible for the evolution of all life. Determines who dies and who lives and pushes evolution into a desired direction. Death is not responsible for the emergence of life. It is conjectured Thor had a part in abiogenesis.
Story: Once life emerged, Death began to kill life. Death was granted this ability by Thor, the god of the electro-magnetic force, since bio-chemical processes determines death, procreation, and longevity. Death has overridden Thor's command in the past through physical events that have caused mass extinction. Death has no command over meteors although he did petition the appropriate gods of physics to exterminate the dinosaurs.

Thor: God of the Electro-Magnetic force
Status: Upper Rank
Origins: Norse god of thunder/lightning
Abilities: Thor has complete power over the electro-magnetic force. All chemical reactions are within his power, although nuclear reactions are not always within his power. Thor also does not have control over the Weak, Strong, and Gravitation force.
Story: Thor has been granted complete power over the electro-magnetic force when the temperature of the universe began to cool down and split up the 4 forces. Thor has had significant power over this universe for billions of years. With the aid of Prometheus, Thor has also had control over the splitting of the atom through his electro-magnetic involvement.

Hades: God of Thermodynamics
Status: Upper Rank
Origins: Greek god of Hell/Underworld
Abilities: Hades has complete power over thermodynamics and set up laws that govern the universe in accordance.
Story: Hades was granted power immediately after the Big Bang and set up 3 main laws. You can't win, you can't tie, you will always lose. Hades prevents all future creation of matter and energy, doesn't allow matter or energy to perpetuate, and forces all matter and energy to absolute zero. Hades' main goal is the utter annihilation of all creation.

Um, cute but not as consistent as it could be.

Death is not evolution, reproduction is. So maybe a fertility goddess.

You left out

Isotropy
Empiricism
Observation
Data

I'd suggest Athena as the (Greek) goddess of technology, rather than Prometheus. Sure, he brought fire, but Athena was the goddess of metis (well, at least according to Neal Stephenson in his [fictional] book Cryptonomicon). That's a word that means "cunning". She was the goddess of war, but also of crafts, which seems odd -- especially considering that there was already a god of war, Ares. But Ares is more of a brute-force-approach kind of god, whereas Athena is the goddess of warfare through cleverness. She's the only major Greek god who wasn't born the usual way (she constructed her own armor & gear while inside the head of Zeus, then hammered her way out). Haphaestus could also be considered a god of technology, since he was the divine smith. For what it's worth!
