Might not he have had similar thoughts, then? That is, might he have wanted to sit next to someone with decent English, with whom he would be put into a discussion group, just as you did?

I can only say that you have a far better memory then me for things that happened 15 years ago. Your recall of detail is staggering .... What do you check in order to tell whether you're remembering correctly? Another memory? If so, you're like a man who buys a second copy of the morning newspaper in order to check the accuracy of the stories told in his first copy (copyright, Ludwig Wittgenstein).
 
Thank you to everyone who has posted replies. I just wish I could go back in time, so that I could get up in front of the entire classroom and scream "this man just read my mind." Maybe then, there might be some closure to this situation that really screwed with my head. Perhaps it was just a magic trick/illusion, but you magicians should just simply state that instead of pretending it was something you were born with....like this man told me. It really screwed with my head and I didn't like it. Sorry to those of you who asked me questions that I didn't reply to. I kept getting an error message when trying to reply to those with the black flag with the skull in their message. At any rate, I just hope the man who played this game on me, sees what I wrote about him. I would like him to reply back, and admit that indeed it was just an illusion, and not something he was born with. I doubt he will ever see my message, but I will check back from time to time just in case. The only reason I decided to post my experience was after seeing the Larry King Live show about UFO's, when one of the guests who was an astranaut, stated seeing UFO's on the trip to the moon. That is what made me think of the bizarre experience I had with the man in college. At first, I didn't know what website to use. I took a guess this one might be one of the more popular ones. If anyone uses other websites like this one, maybe you can copy and post my original message on other websites just to see if the man I am speaking of, replies. P.S. I am a woman, not a man, like some of you are assuming. It really doesn't matter much, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree that people are out to cheat or trick each other all the time. I just don't think it's funny -- rather, that it's human nature.

Well that's pretty easy to explain as well - of course it was a UFO - he couldn't identify it. He didn't know what it was. That doesn't mean it was automatically an alien spacecraft.
 
This entire thread is a great example of what harm people like Geller do to people, by making simple tricks seem like it's the real thing.

I can't blame happycats for being a bit naive about this whole thing, I'm sure there are many others who feel the same.

The astronaut was Buzz Aldrin, He told his story in a rather indirect way and he was interupted by Larry K and other inserts.

However, the whole point of his story, which seems to have been missed by the OP, was that the "UFO" they saw was identified -- it was a panel from the booster rocket.

I don't think naive is the right word. The entire purpose of magic/mentalism is to fool people. So there is no shame is actually being fooled. I think it is shameful when someone uses these tricks (tricks is not a good word either, some of the methods are quite clever and sophisticated) to leave the impression that it is real. An experience like this can alter the way a person believes the world works.
 
Well, I was talking about the times when the mentalist/magician doesn't admit it's just an illusion, like in this case.

That person happycats met didn't just fool her, it was beyond that.

Oh ok, well that answers a couple of questions then, I didn't realize that before the message.

Whatever it is, if you were talking to a guy it is likely his motivation is to impress you and hopefully get into your panties after he befriended you.

and when you chose a number was it a single digit number, or was it something a little harder to guess? People have asked you and you haven't answered this question.

I don't remember. I'm guessing that the first time around, I probably picked a rather small number (something under 100), but the second time around, I remember picking a much larger number. He said I could pick any number as long as it wasn't too long because then he would have trouble remembering it. For example, he told me not to pick a number like: 1,893,569. The whole game seemed ridiculous to me at first, which I remember making apparent to him.

Ah ha -- this is interesting. Why would he need to remember the number if he was reading it directly out of your mind? That'd be a red flag for me. I'd probably try something subversive, like thinking of a number in hexidecimal, if I heard that. ; )
