I recently learned about and heard Ron Paul speak. I find that I only disagree with two of his views so far. This is much better than any of the others on both sides of the isle. How do you ladies and gentleman feel about him?

Perhaps you are more in favor of the government being involved in every aspect of our lives than I am? I know that for 250 years the government has been attempting to cure our social ills ... but we have all the same ones for some reason.
Kind of sounds like the argument for Chinese goods "Well I would buy American, but everything is made in China so what can I do" Is there someone you like better that you will support or do you not support any of them?

I live in Germany, so I can't vote anyway. But from what I know about the presidential Soap-Operas, he doesn't have the chance because the missing lobbies and therefore money backing him.
Politics isn't about great People with great Ideas - it's about who can influence the Media at most and throw the most dirt towards the opponents.![]()
Still sounds like the same argument to me. I can understand how a single person could be overwhelmed by the big money interests after all this is a capitalist republic. However, it is defeatist and dangerous to give in to those types of feelings.
Sadly, I am capable of that. However, it seems to be a major part of his ideas that government mostly causes more harm than good when they create an agency to solve some problem or another.
I don't know what you mean by defeatists and dangerous: It's simply the way it works in the presidential elections. To me it looks like the major two parties stronghold is the main-reason for this sad truth. Even most political skilled people in here don't care about that fact because it serves their interest as rep or dem. Dr. Ron and his opinions automatically makes him an outsider in this system. Who cares about additional opinions in such a system?
Well, I do. But I was called "America-Hater" many times for thinking this way.![]()
Yes and I tend to agree with him I can't seem to think of anything that government agencies do well? INS? CIA? FBI? well maybe the FBI. How about SSA or HSA or FAA or FCC or how about FEMA. They all seem to be a colossal waste of our money to me.Yes, he does seem to think that.
While it is true that this country's elections are controlled by two private political organizations. The fact remains that the person elected to serve as President is normally elected by less than 20% of the voting public. That being said anything could happen. It all comes down to the primaries for Dr. Paul and any of the other candidates. I am hoping that the free use of the internet to disseminate ideas will help to equalize the big money problem.

As usual society has the memory of a concussed goldfish.
I've always wondered if there isn't a natural block to a libertarian ever coming to power, anywhere (except by hiding his views). Let's face it, as much as people may agree here and there with the claim that government can't do anything right, people in civilized society seem to really like the stability that comes with the power of the state, even when it is deployed by force.
Let Ron Paul list all the various government functions he intends to do away with, and anybody who may be enthused by his speaking truth to power vis-a-vis international interventionalism or domestic police-state tactics will melt away like that last patch of snow on a hot spring day.
I think you may be confusing liberty with Anarchy. Don't doubt that Ron would like to do away with many of these agencies and he has made a list of them. Yet his support base continues to grow? ME personally I would put FEMA at the top of the list. However, he has said that no sudden changes can be made plus he must get congress to go along with it. I agree with you though most people have a herd mentality we are animals after all. They feel safer when someone else makes their decisions for them then they needn't take any blame for their actions. Just following orders sort of thing right? These conditioned responses though and need not be accepted but intelligent persons. We can and should not let a federal government do anything for us that we can and should do for ourselves. For us the best government would be one that is grid locked that is why the founding father designed it the way they did if anything is to get do it really has to be the will of the people well that was the theory anyway. Now it seems to be the will of the best lobbyists. I am glad to hear form all of thou about this though. It is good to get all the ideas out there.
