I think one of the reasons psychicuk's readings have been somewhat less than stellar is that they're being directed at specific individuals who have already been identified. Instead, the reading should be thrown out there for anyone to grab onto, like thus: "There's someone here who's been thinking a lot about a special person lately. This person is about to make a very big, potentially life-changing decision. This person has also recently encountered a health issue with themselves or a loved one. Oh yes, and this person has a sense of humor that friends think is a little quirky and off-beat. The letters A and G are involved somehow." With a large enough crowd, one or more of those will go "ding!" inside at least one person's head. And once you have that person on the line, who's at least a little intrigued, you're on your way.

Reading first, vict...oops, I mean subject, later.

See, now you've just moved the goalposts a huge distance. If this is the case, you should've said so from the start. Others have already explained to you that finding hits in a group of thousands of people is not unusual in the least.

If you can stick to the one reading for one targeted person, now THAT would be impressive.

Sorry, I'm an only child and have no relatives living or dead with a name phonetically related to that.

Birthday also is shown to me. She wants to pass on regards to someone named Steven or Stephen.

If I had that all-important subjective validation going on, I'd be trying to fit this with my dad, whose name is Steven. Unfortunately his birthday is not for another six months. My middle name is also Steven, but again my birthday (as shown in my profile) is in January. The last possible Steven is one of my uncles, whose birthday is a couple of months past.

A Grandfather figure is also now coming in and must of fought in "Dunkirk" in war time as he gives me that place name.

Must have fought at Dunkirk, you mean. None of my extended family fought in either World War, and certainly not in Dunkirk. My father has done extensive family history study, and I work in military history, so I think I would know (and be very proud) if someone had. For those watching, it's actually more common than you might think to have some relative who was at Dunkirk - the successful evacuation of thousands of British troops from France in 1940 means that there are many descendants alive today, as well as more whose relatives might claim to have been there.

Their would be someone in your family at the moment undergoing some tests for a possible heart problem? I'm told it is more of a thrombosis type thing like narrowing of arteries. Not so much the heart area but things can still affect that area valves. The name Susan and maybe George to is given me. I give the two as i was given the name Susan George.

Ouch! Not even close, despite an excellent chance of getting a hit either on the specific heart thing, or on some other aspect of the circulatory system (covering a multitude of possible problems). I know of no-one with such problems, though no doubt you will tell me that there are, I just don't know about it yet. If you'd gone for mental health issues, you'd have had more luck.

They will sort the problem out successfully anyway so don't worry about it.

there are some things that can't be proven but it doesn't mean they don't exist.

For all practical intents and purposes, it does mean they don't exist.

Particularly when there are other explanations for the thing.

Just because your memory of a reading does not allow you to accept mundane methods as the explanation, it does not mean they are not the explanation.

Which if you think about it fits in with your worldview already. It's not a huge leap to go from "I can't prove it's psychic power in this instance but I believe it is" to "I can't prove it was cold reading in this instance but that's the most likely explanation".

You have two or more possible explanations for a thing. But you choose the least likely, physically impossible, thoroughly debunked one. Why?

My question is : Why is there a problem with names in the spirit world?, why are first names reluctantly given but with no reference as to the connection i.e. Mum, Dad, grandparent.
Oh and why are Surnames never mentioned at all, are they banned?

Oh I dunno about that. I had this vicious Japanese fighting fish that ate a few of the little neons. The chick in the pet shop told me it would not bother them. But she was only 16 and wore goth make-up so I should have suspected she was lying. Those goths are all Satan worshippers.

Mmm that’s strange, my local petshop also has a young Goth assistant resplendent in black gear, spangly jewellery and topped off with the give away dyed jet black long hair.

I for one have noticed a discernable rise in the level of unprovoked violence perpetuated against myself by my Piscean pets.

I urge all forumites to take note of any peculiar goings on regarding young Goths at the local pet shop and to take special care with any suspicious pet activity.

I will go ahead and try a reading for you now.

I am first picking up with you a grandfather link and a place name called "Bath" So that place name would be a connection to your Grandfather or yourself in some way.

I used to service shop air conditioning units in Bath about 25 years ago. (As well as dozens of other places.) A hit!

He tells me he has put a lot of weight back on now so he must of lost a good deal of weight before he crossed over into spirit.

My paternal grandfather lost both his legs in WW1, so if he has them back now, this is also a hit!

He is showing me a circus type thing now with elephants etc. This to me would mean there is circus links with himself or you have visited a circus recently or coming up very soon.

I recently attended a music festival 36 miles from Bath. There were several small "circus" tents, and I saw a wire-frame papier-mâché elephant. (Very hot for those inside, I imagine) and numerous astounding acrobats. A hit?

Surely this isn't cold reading, as that uses feedback from questions disguised as statements to home in on something that fits. Here we just have a series of statements presented all at once, with no opportunity for feedback until afterwards.

And judging by the (lack of) accuracy of the statements, I don't think hot reading can be involved either.

Partly. Cold reading is not just one technique but a collection of them. I recommend Ian Rowland's excellent "Full Facts Book Of Cold Reading" which gives 38 techniques.

ok ive followed this thread but now its just annoying.well done miss anthrope and gayak for going through with the reading and answering honestly.But it just proves what ive always thought pyckics prey and cash in on people when they are most vunerable.I know grieving friends who go to these people and hear what they want to hear ie. their loved one is happy inthe spirit world.They also get upset when they dont hear exactly what they were looking for. Interesting. Several of these readings are spot on for many individuals in this forum. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would probably believe that many of these people are in fact the same person posting under different names...

But since that doesn't happen in these forums, I digress...

Several of the individual readings psycicuk gave were not spot on for me, but for immediate members of my family. In one of them, EVERY sentence was a hit if she were reading for my father.

So I'd like to also step in line for a reading from psychicuk. Here are the particulars on me what just about any search engine should come up with something.
