Mitt Romney's tortured logic

I never said that the position is Leftist and therefore wrong. I brought up the label merely to establish what position I was talking about. Not to compound the impression that I apparently am giving you of ragging on Leftists, but there seems to be an attitude that labels are somhow bad, we should treat everyone as completely individuals, and we shouldn't generalize or group people or attitudes into categories based on them being similar but not identical. This position in turn seems to be correlated with traits commonly known as "Leftist". While I agree that excessive labeling can lead to problems, language ultimately consists of labels, and rejecting labels means rejecting language. I wanted to discuss an attitude, and I needed a label, and Leftist was the one I considered most appropriate.

Just a small comment on this. I think most of my views would not be seen as left and certainly not leftist. Yet it occurs quite often that in some discussion or another that people assume because I hold a particular view that I am part of the left or leftist or liberal group.

Categorizing people like this strikes me as lazy thinking at best. Something like, the only reason your view could be what it is is because you're part of some group that I know that consists of bozos so I really don't need to consider what you are saying.

For someone who is not in fact a "Leftist"? Suit yourself.
My bolding.

Non-Leftist people can't have Leftist attitudes? Do you feel that you have to make a fool of yourself a certain number of times each month or something?

Mitt Romney is trying to set a flip-flop record, and obviously thinks Bush is the epitome of the GOP, not Reagan.
