7/7/7 Is Rapture Day.

Okay, if the rapture will occur on this July 7th, why do they want to have Bush make July 7th a nationally recognized annual observance? I'd suspect that if the rapture occurs this year, planning for next year (apart from signing up with the rapture-ready postal service) is rather pointless.

Cool! So on July 7 I get a new car for free from one of my Christian neighbors, who will, of course, not be there to object!

ETA: Okay, now that I've skimmed through the website, it doesn't seem to clearly state that 7/7/07 will be the rapture.:( Just some sort of special day of prayer or something. I'd read it more carefully, but I fear it would make my brain explode, and I'm perilously close to a headache as it is.

Is the stuff about the rapture even in the bible? As I recall much of that was created recently back in 19th century america.

What happened on July 7th 1707, 1807, and 1907?

1707 - nothing that I could find
1807 - The Peace of Tilsit, between France, Prussia and Russia
1907 - the birth of Robert A. Heinlein, later to become a science fiction author and dirty old man

ETA: July 7, 1307 was the death of Edward I of England

Not exactly created, but it wasn't popular or well-known until then. There is one passage in the Bible in which someone pretending to be Paul apologizes for the second coming taking too long and explains that deceased Christians will also go to heaven when Jesus finally makes it back.

1 Thessaolians said:
3But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

It's verse 17 there that is responsible for the whole crazy thing. They mix up other passages which postdict that Christians will suffer before the second coming and come up with some Christians being raptured before the tribulation and some Christians making it through to see Jesus smash the Romans.

It's not part of any Norwegian Christian theology, at least. Never heard of it from any European groups, either. I believe it's an American phenomenon.

I'm thinking of what I've heard: that only 100,000 can be saved and there will be time of trial and tribulation where the anti-christ will rule the world. Later christ comes and saves all sinners.

I guess my statement above comes from those terrible left behind books or elsewhere but I've heard this about christianity for years so I don't know. Amazing how all that can be gleamed from a few verses in the bible.

This website is a goldmine.

Every July 1st -7th of every year shall be Search for Missing Children Week!

Called "Search Week"

The entire world and every caring person will diligently try to find missing children.

President Bush

please make this a Nationally recognized observance. Thank You

On 777 we will celebrate for it's like our rest day.

Let's Kneel on 777 and Thank God for Everything

Kneel and thank "God" for "Everything?" Child abductions included?

Malachi 4 2. But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings;

We pray that Our Father in Heaven will show his mercy and send his son ASAP.

ASAP. Apparantly God writes business memos.

Christ loved churches dearly and always went to them to try to get them to think with life and accept his message. We can quote many passages that show the importance of churches.

Really? Matt 6:5-6 says "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

I guess that part doesn't count.

To be a part of earth for a chosen saint is to have fallen. Earthly means carnal. Not of God. Every beast that comes up from earth is a devil force.

Oh? Genesis 1:25 "God made every type of wild animal, every type of domestic animal, and every type of creature that crawls on the ground. God saw that they were good." I guess "God" in this context means "Devil," and "good" in this context means "bad."

There's more, but I have a life.

"The Man Child Team"?!

Even for Rapture-mongers, that's pretty crazy. :boggled:

I'm not certain, but I think what you are talking about comes from this bit:

Revelation 14 said:
1And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

2And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

4These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

5And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

As this bit comes in the middle of the tribulation, some sects argue that 144,000 people (male virgins!) are to get some sort of special treatment. The rapture doesn't work with Revelation very well,as that book was addressed to Christians who were currently experiencing the tribulation and End Times that the "Left Behind" books claim to expound on.

But you could argue that these guys have been raptured. Others claim that they are Christians who died in the past 2000 years, and some even claim that the quota is filled up and no one else can get to heaven. It seems like I heard somebody claim that these are the pre-Jesus Jews as well.

On 06 06 06 I wore a shirt that has 666 down the front and on the back it says "Have a Hell of a day!". I think I'll wear it on July 7th.

 It's a revelation! God's taking the believers away because THAT'S THE DAY THE LAST HARRY POTTER COMES OUT! The series really is a spell cast by witch Ms. Rowling (I really read this. Forget where.) and everyone who completes the series is doomed to hell so God's pullin' his chosen out!

Grayman, I envy you your shirt.

OK, who released info on my idea to set my pets loose on July?

They only eat Christians, you know...

Nah, you need to crank out a quick and dirty T-shirt that says, "07 07 07 - Rapture Day - Remember, Worshipping God In Heaven Is Better Than Ejaculation!"

I wonder how many would raptured away completely distraught that they'll never know how the series ends.
