I am astonished to see how well Giuliani is doing in this poll. I am astonished to see him beating Hillary. I'm not and have never been a Hillary fan, but Giuliani??? I would be interested to know if there is any reasoning at all behind people's support of this man. I picked Ron Paul, because he is a genuine conservative and actually has the interests of the country at heart, though I am actually rooting very much for Obama. Again, another man, from all indications, of integrity and courage. I read his book (one of them) and was impressed, though there are things about which I could not disagree with him more, at least I know that he actually thought out his own positions and holds them because he believes they are in the interest of the country.

I have noticed, however, that actual integrity, as opposed the pretended sort by which Americans are invariably seduced , counts for very little in the long run. I suspect the fact that he could actually, with his own mind and using his own thoughts and thinking up his own sentences and all, write a book will tar him as one of those liberal elitest - the bogey man of choice for the right. We Amurcins don't go in for that book learnin' and such. We like them common sense fellas like GW. He's one of us!!!! Just a few hundred million dollars richer is all.

Giuliani's wife worked for a surgical tool company that performed surgeries on dogs to demonstrate their products.

Do you really want this woman in the white house?

Then-CEO Leon Hirsch defended the practice in the 1980s, saying there was no other way to properly show how the staplers worked.

I can think of another way- using a stapler on Giuliani's wife's head.

TOUGH SELL: Judi Giuliani, here with her pooch, :p worked as a saleswoman for a firm that demonstrated its surgical wares on dogs that were later killed.

I find it amazing that anyone would blackball a candidate based on the morality of a candidate's spouse. Are you saying that Giuliani's current wife has a sense of ethics that so twisted that you cannot vote for him no matter what his qualifications might be?

I predict Clinton will win. Since I have a 0% hit rate when making predictions, she can't win.

Here is the reasoning as I see it behind Giuliani's popularity:

He seems brave, and seems as though he has the capacity to act with clarity under enormous preasure.

Libertarians don't want to run him? I thought he was Libertarianism.

The impression I get from Digg and Reddit...
He's a Republican. That's why he was in the Republican debate. He is also libertarian, but he is not a Libertarian.

I'm leaning toward Giuliani. His best chance at victory is if we get another 9/11 attack before the primary. (Why is his name the only name on the list in italics?) Because he is Italian?

There's something (or many things ?) fake about Romney. I dig his wife because she has been a good advocate for MS. Um, I mean, against MS.

The Dem I like best is Richardson, but he is boring and looks like a dork on TV. That is why he's not going to win. I think he's VP material.

Its in italics because he is the person you voted for...:eye-poppi

Who the hell votes for somebody because of their facial expressions? I wonder if we put a camera on you 24/7 if we might come up with a silly-looking frame or two?

If you don't like Hillary, fine (I'd prefer someone else myself), but I would hope you have some better reasons than just the way she looks or some straw-man about her views on violence.

Its amazing that the candidates look good any time on the cam... I know when someone takes a picture of me my body goes into ugly mode and I loose control of my face.

Not mention Reps will somehow have the nerve to run on the premise that they are the fiscally responsible party - again, it boggles the mind.

I am hard-pressed to find a single person in D.C. that is fiscally responsible. Its not a party line problem... Its a politician problem...

I think the reason you are seeing people voting for Giuliani because he seems to be trying to move himself in a moderate direction. At least with his abortion stance. Thats what this country needs. We do not need another hard liner on either side. We need someone who panders to both ends. I would love to see a Dem Pres and a Rep VP... Or the other way around. It will never happen, but would give the white house balance.

1. Hillary is fake. Everything she does is fake and is only used to get votes. She didn't use to be like that 10 years ago but today everything she does is fake. Remember when she railed on about how Imus should get fired? Know why she did that? Not because she thought what he said was offensive, but because she had a personal grudge against him from the presidential dinner several years ago when he made a Joke about Clinton's affair.
Yes, I am aware that you don't like her. But even if she had a personal grudge against Imus (and having someone joke about a very painful aspect of your personal life might do that to someone) she pretty much just had to get in line to bash Imus. Which politicians stepped up to defend him?

2. What "strawman"? Hillary thinks video games cause violence and proposed legislation to keep 'violent games' out of stores sold to minors. Essentially removing most of them from the market completely.
She proposed to keep retailers from selling violent and pornographic video games to children. Are you in favor of selling them to children? Or are you perhaps a minor who is annoyed because you have a difficult time acquiring these things?

But the "removing them from the market" is totally bogus and you know it. You don't have to buy them from a retailer. You can buy them on-line. While I think her steps to protect children would be ineffective, you certainly have to come up with something better than that, or else logically, you need to harbor the same poisonous hatred for every politician who comes out against pornography and violence that you have for Ms. Clinton.

... you need to harbor the same poisonous hatred for every politician who comes out against pornography and violence nappy-headed Imus that you have for Ms. Clinton.

Um, fixed that for you. ;)
