I'd like to do something touristy in the morning/afternoon, and then head to dinner..somewhere. What's easy to get to for everyone?
Given that my knowledge of LA is restricted to episodes of CHiPs, could someone suggest a meeting place for dinner?

Might I suggest one of my favorite LA haunts, El Coyote. It's a Mexican restaurant, it offers fare for our vegan friends (I'm pretty sure they do, anyway), the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and you can start your car with their margaritas. They have cheap valet parking (like 3 bucks or something) and it's full of Old Hollywood history. For example, Sharon Tate ate her last meal there before being murdered by the Manson family. Isn't that charming?
Seriously, El Coyote is a great, fun, awesome place and if you call ahead they'll set up a large table for you.
Here's a map if you're interested.
I've been to El Coyote dozens of times, and all I can say is that my experience differs greatly. I've always found their margaritas to be extremely strong. Maybe the bartender was having an off night.I have to disagree with the margarita comment. I've only been to El Coyote once (although it was this past Tuesday), and the margaritas were sorely lacking in the alcohol department. The food, however, was very good and the atmosphere quite appealing. Excellent (and smooth) quacamole, as well.

In any event, I agree with you on the guacamole. Yum.![]()
