Besides, there is a darn good reason why, even if it happened the way Boortz claims, that it would.
Very possibly the students were waiting for the police or SWAT team to take the guy out. They don't know how long away help is. The cops could come busting through the door ten seconds after they get killed rushing the guy, which would save everyone AND you. How do you make that risk assessment under those conditions?

Note that on 9/11, it took some serious reassurances that there was no alternative before those on flight 93 took control, and only then they apparently had to have a vote on whether they should do something. These are people who had no alternative, and had time to reason it out. They weren't watching people die at the same time.
I've said before, there is the statement that before you judge you should walk a mile in their shoes. In this case, you don't even know what kind of shoes they are, much less have the ability to try them on. I can't imagine what I would do in that situation, and I don't want to try. I certainly am not judge anything that anyone else does.
