I agree, though. District 7 would be an excellent district for someone like Hal to run in.
 
I'm a Republican. I'd vote for Hal.

But then I didn't vote for Bush, ever.

But they won't throw me out of my party! heheheheheheh

Actually I have a friend that lives in CO and she said she would vote for Hal, because I told her to. She said she would even put a sign on her lawn.
 
It is sad to see jabs and shot from old fights in this thread. Hal is one of the nicest and most honest people I have ever met. I would be happy to vote for him, but I don't live in Colorado.
 
I have a sister who lives in Colorado Springs. If Hal runs, I'm sure I can talk her into putting up a sign, and voting for him.

If Hal wants to run for the Scottish Parliament, he has my vote.
Maybe Scotland can join the Union. It gets dull, moaning about Westminster all the time. If we had Washington to bitch about, we would be really happy.

Seriously, while I like and respect Hal, that's not necessarily the best reason to vote him into government, any more than it would be the best reason to give him Roadtoad's job, or Geek Goddess' or any other job that takes skill and experience.

It's odd, though, that there appear to be no actual qualifications required for most political jobs. Strange that we expect a plumber to meet strict professional standards, yet allow a total idiot to become a head of state.

Soapy, afaik, Hal has been teaching political science for many years and has had experience with public policies, including some time in the White House. It is likely he is more qualified than most Congressmen now. And, of course, there is a lot to be said about his honor and sincerity.

See, I'm already campaigning for him. :D
 
What experience did Arnold Schwartzenegger have? Or Ronald Reagan? Yet, they have both been governator of California.

I'd vote for Hal. We could use more politicians with a sense of honor and integrity.

Hang on, we are talking about the United States Congress. "Skill and Experience" are far, far, far down the list, unless you are talking about skill and experience in:

1. Lying.
2. Raising Money.
3. Lying.
4. Pandering to: labor unions (Democrats); religious fundamentalists (Republicans and Southern Democrats); trial lawyers (Primarily Democrats); idiots (both parties, equally).
5. Lying.
6. Prevarication.
7 Lying.
8. Speaking untruths.
9. Lying.
10. Talking out of both sides of your mouth.
11. Lying.
12. Making promises that you know you can never keep.
13. Lying.
14. Breaking the promises that you think that you can keep.
15. Lying.
16. Voting with your party no matter how stupid the party position is.
17. Lying
18. Infidelity in marriage.
19. Lying.
 
I hope Hal runs. I thought his interview was fantastic.

He is a fantastic public speaker, and a very good and very smart person.

I'm glad to have stumbled up this page, because I meant to offer how impressed I was with the interview right after it came out.

Not to detract from Hal, but both Arnold and Ronald had extensive experience, though perhaps not as elected officials in high office (but who has that experience until they get elected?).

Arnold was an extremely successful businessman; he turned his earnings from bodybuilding and moviemaking into fortunes in real estate.

Ronald had been very politically active for a very long time and was neither an outsider to the workings of government nor an unknown to those in the party.
