Starting tomorrow (02/19), Fox 13 News at Nine in Memphis, TN will be running segments on a psychic involved in the case of Cherryl Pearson who has been missing since January of 2002.

I've been searching but haven't been able to determine the identity of the psychic and her name isn't mentioned in the promos I've been seeing.

I don't have the means to do so, but maybe someone else might be able to record this and put it on the web for everyone else here. I'll be checking the stations website for clips.

I hope someone can. It would be interesting to see this. I've checked out Fox 13 Memphis' very confusing local news webpage and can't tell right off the bat if they're in the habit of streaming their news programs on the Web as well as showing them on TV.

Ok, our "detective" is Nancy Myer, and after doing some googling on this "nationally known" psychic (according to the video clip) I see she has been on Court TV's Psychic Detectives, written at least one book, as well as being the subject of one of Joe Nickell's articles at CSICOP. Looks like she has been mentioned in Kelly's "Psychics and Missing People" thread.

Segments 2 & 3 air on Tuesday and Wednesday.

ETA: I have not seen the entire clip myself yet because I'm on dialup, I'll watch it at work tomorrow.

I've always figured someone should stage one of these things. Yes, I do believe that sounds pretty bad, because it might be like downplaying what really happens to the poor kids out there, and their parents. And I'm pretty sure the Psychic or whatever, could say, "I was getting signals from another real lost boy/girl." I figure this would end up like a "Timmy's stuck in the well" story. Where it's fake, and just ends up blowing up in the person's face who set the whole thing up.

I hope at least some of that made sense.

It made perfect sense. The problem is that most people are ill informed as to the statistics. I, if not others, will question what the reporter uses as facts. What the reporter uses as facts are usually other reports. When you talk to the investigators involved, you find that yes, they did ask for phychics help, but no, it didn't add to the body of evidence.

I see you are new, which is great. But it takes work and time to make contacts. I have a call out to someone in Memphis to tape the report, and the name of the reporter.

I'm afraid it really comes down to time and experience. Use those tools to find your answers.
