I've just come down with a head cold, and have decided to take a homeopathic remedy to get rid of it.

I'll let you know when this remedy has got rid of my cold: 3-4 days is my guess.
 
It's not an either-or, Drinking lots of water will enhance your homeopathic experience. More dillution, you see.

I've already got you beat. I had a bit of a headache this morning, took a homeopathic remedy, and was better within 15 minutes.

Is homoeopathic medicine preventative?

I'm going to take some now, and if I don't get a headache today, it worked!

Also, shouldn't it work if you keep the medication under your pillow?

or Hom-e-a-path-y
in pronounciation?


Rebecca pronounced it the second way in her Blasphemy Challange, but I've been prounocing it the first way.

Which is right?

I was going to be a spelling Nazi for this rendition of the word "dilution" (from the verb "to dilute, meaning to water down). However I see you have based your spelling on the word "dill", meaning, colloquially here in Australia at least, a moron or idiot. And considering the subject matter, i.e. homeopathy and homeopaths, I find that your spelling may actually be very appropriate! Homeopathy is indeed a matter of dill-ution! :D

I was going to be a grammar Nazi because you forgot to close your quote. However, since this is not The Three Word Story, I find that not closing a quote doesn't really matter. :D

I believe it is "Home-e-op'-a-thee" (note the stress on the "op" part)
and a practitioner is called a "Home'-e-o-path"

Sure it does :D I'm wondering if it is 18C or 30C ;)

If they say like cures like, then why would cancer cure cancer? Or arsenic cure arsenic? Won't giving your body more of the disease causing agent just give it more to fight.

The idiots compare it to vaccines, but vaccines actually have something in them that actually does stimulate the body to make ANTIBODIES against the MICROBE.

The immune system cannot make antibodies against arsenic for crimminey's sakes!

We can explain vaccines and how they work to make the body react to them, but not one altie numbnut can explain how the body uses "homeopathy" to build its immunity. I KNOW homeopathy does not cause the body to build up antibodies against any homeopath remedy. It can't, since homeopathy is diluted beyond anything that the body can even detect (and hopefully can not be harmed by).

Thank you for this chance to rant. I need to vent these days. I'm going to be held hostage for the next year by a homeopath loving altie pusher-quite literally, augh, I'm NOT kidding! I'll explain if anyone pm's me.

If the remedy doesn't appear to work for its stated purpose (and assuming you're in the UK), you could try reporting it as a defective medicine here. As Deetee reported a while back, it appears from what the MHRA says about the relevant EU legislation that one of the grounds on which a medicine can be ordered to be recalled from the market is that it doesn't work:
“Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 November 2001 on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use” specifies under what circumstances a recall may be required in Article 117. It defines the obligations of the competent authorities of the relevant member states and of the marketing authorisation holder.
