Alex Jones Playing Martyr Again

No, I'm saying that if the sun were to get hotter, then it would expand, similar to supernovae, thus lessening the traveling time of light from the sun

The sun does appear to be getting hotter but not enough to account for the temperature changes.

There is no know mechanism by which the sun could expand in a way similar to a supernova (there just isn't enough energy in the system).

I heard Alex say on his TV show that global warming is occurring because the sun is heating up. Alex apparently believes that global warming is real, but that it's caused by the solar system heating up. He cited no sources.:jaw-dropp

My newbie status won't let me post links, but I've seen sources that indicate this as well. Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov and Henrik Svensmark, to name two, support this theory. Not that Jones probably actually did any research on the matter or has even heard of these guys, but still - there are sources that can be cited.

thanks for putting a positive spin on this. if he alienates environmentalists he will lose a good portion of the leftist crowd. the only people who are against global warming are republicans and supporters of big industry.

Or those who are not convinced that chaotic macrosystems are easy to model over long durations. Or those who notice certain factors, like water vapor, tend to be overlooked altogether, and that unlike any other non-political science topic (ie. REAL science), anyone who has a differing view is treated as a buffoon. I'm always skeptical of science which exists chiefly for the purpose of furthering a political agenda, since it doesn't really on real scrutiny, but consensus, to make its recommendations for policy.

I don't know of anyone proposing an expanding sun, per se, for the changes in solar radition. The incidences of solar flares, though, is what some attribute it to.

Weird science form Alex Jones

Thanks for the information. I appreciate any help in figuring out how Alex Jones comes up with the things he says.

Alex says more weird stuff than all the other Truthers put together--with the possible exception of David Icke. I'm sure Alex gets a lot of his wildest ideas--like this story about the solar system heating up--from science articles that he's misread. But since he never sources any of it, listening to Alex is like watching some god-awful sci-fi flick.

One of his central beliefs is that the secret global elite can live forever. It seems they have access to "life-extension technology" which will enable them (or has enabled them) to live virtually forever. That's why they have openly announced--in a way that only Alex can hear--that they intend to kill 80% of us.

Whew! Never mind that Alex hasn't presented a shred of proof for the existence of this elite in the first place. We're focusing on bizarre scientific claims here.

I've gone around asking Alex's fans where Alex got the idea the elite could live forever. But they haven't been much help. They believe the secret elite can live forever, because Alex Jones said so. Scary world, huh?

Alex gets his funniest, juiciest ideas from misinterpreting science. Maybe my fellow JREFers can tell us where the "life-extension" fantasia comes from.

More weird science from Alex Jones:
--The government intends to implant us with microchips. We will eventually have a unified "hive mind." (They have openly announced this, too. But everyone missed it but Alex.)
--The government keeps "giant, honeycombed hives of toddlers drugged on lithium." (Psst! Part of a secret plot.)
--There are live AIDS viruses in the corn. (Government plot. This one I actually tracked down. It's based on a news article which Alex misread.)
--The government can control the weather. (A conspiracy-guy staple.)
--The government has magic, voice-morphing technology.
--There little wires in dollar bills that track your purchases and send the information to a central computer.
--Government scientists are working on an anti-matter bomb which can destroy the whole solar system.
--Saddam had exact doubles.

And so on. Alex Jones is so far out he makes the other Truthers roll their eyes. I'll bet he browses through science articles, has dreams about them, then gets on the air and announces his dreams as news.

Perry ive been trying to find a source on when Alex claimed he saw a politician morph into a Green Devil, do you have it?

I can't link you to it, but it was something Alex said on his cable TV show, "InfoWars" shortly after Fox visited Texas. This was three or four years ago. Alex had bullhorned Fox during his visit, and he was reporting on what happened. Fox went by in his limosine and morphed briefly into a green devil as he went by. Alex goes on for some time about this vision of a green devil and makes it clear that others saw the phenomenon as well.

(You try bullhorning someone for two hours on a hot Texas night, and you'll see green devils, too. Alex, however, went on to report it as fact on television.)

Alex puts many of his programs on the web, but I haven't seen this one yet. Austin's cable access station, PACT, might have a copy. It might even be viewable at one of Alex's websites.

OK thanks for the information, also have you ever called into Alex's radio show and debated him on air?

Not so far. Since I probably wouldn't be on the air for long, I'm hung up on what's the first thing I should say.

If you had just one thing you could blurt out to Alex Jones, what would you say?

Alex won't even let my name be mentioned on his TV show. And here I've been like a father to him. An uncle, anyway.

They're still figuring out the total solar irradiance models, but the latest ones show a decreased (but still significant) impact by humans on global temperatures - primarily in the second half of the twentieth century.

What are you talking about? The speed of light does not increase as heat increases. "light always travels at a speed of 299,792,458 meters per second", according to einstein. Not good to call people idiot while making ignorant claims.

That's not quite true (if we're going to nitpick). The speed of light is dependent on the media through which it travels - it actually goes slower through our atmosphere than through the the vacuum of space.

Why does you accuse the NYFD of Manslaughter on 9/11?

I don't really know anything about this Alex guy (guess I'll do a search if I want to converse on this site) but "that they intend to kill 80% of us", while that statement does twist it, there has been a quite bit of discussion by scientists on the issue and alot of them believe that our intelligence is negating evolution and survival of the fittest, and that we should seek programs to reimplement the phenoms in a controlled manner.

On another note, it is certainly not odd to fear RFID, I can't say the government openly plans on using it to implant chips into people but the technology is here, and nobody loves technology like the government.

We were talking about heat increasing the speed of light not matter decreasing it which is too obvious to even state. I'll put it this way, electromagnetic radiation does not depend on the velocity of the object emitting the radiation. In other words, if the light source heats up light still travels at the same speed.

Global warming may be a big problem, but the talking heads in government want to fix it by implementing a tax. If they tax us, how will this do anything but cost us more $$$? Al Gore is an idiot because his plan is not viable. If we want to reduce emissions we can do it by preservation not taxation. Increasing standards of industry will definently reduce pollution. Start using alternate energies, instead of repressing them. Phase out gasoline engines. Stop selling pork n beans ;).

If it is so obvious, why did you say "always", which is incorrect?

Al Gore is up for a Nobel Prize, but you think he's an idiot.

You wouldn't be a conspiracy guy, would you?

Dude, both Kissinger and Yassar Arafat won Nobel Peace Prizes. Just being nominated doesn't mean anything.

The guy flunked out of divinity school for God's sake...
