They manipulated the intel at the pentagon

But at least they didn't break a law. Phew. That, I am sure, is a comfort to the famlies of those who have died in this war.
The report found that former Pentagon policy chief Douglas J. Feith had not engaged in illegal activities through the creation of special offices to review intelligence. Some Democrats also have contended that Feith misled Congress about the basis of the administration's assertions on the threat posed by Iraq, but the Pentagon investigation did not support that. Two people familiar with the findings discussed the main points and some details Thursday on condition they not be identified.
You will note that this is a suit at the Pentagon, a secretariat level suit, and yet they use "The Pentagon" as the descriptive.

There are some MI guys being tarred with this jerk's brush.

Feith called "bizarre" the inspector general's conclusion that some intelligence activities by the Office of Special Plans, which was created while Feith served as the undersecretary of defense for policy — the top policy position under Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld — were inappropriate but not unauthorized.
But you bailed out and left others holding your bag of flaming dog crap, didn't you Doug?
Feith left his Pentagon post in August 2005 and now teaches at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He has maintained throughout the controversy over the role of the Office of Special Plans, as well as other small groups that were created after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, that their intelligence activities were prudent, authorized and useful in challenging some of the intelligence analysis of the CIA.

At the center of the prewar intelligence controversy was the work of a small number of Pentagon officials from Feith's office and the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz who reviewed CIA intelligence analyses and put together their own report. When they briefed Rumsfeld on their report in August 2002 — a period when Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials were ratcheting up their warnings about the gravity of the Iraq threat — Rumsfeld directed them to also brief CIA Director George Tenet.
"I don't like what Tenet's people are telling me, I'll come up with a second opinion." Blah.

So, a demand for certainty ignores the damnable uncertainty inherent in a great deal of intelligence.

"It was innapropriate, but not illegal."

Not bad for the "values" administration!

WWJD Who would Jeebus decieve?

Rummy and Feith...they all saw A Few Good Men and found themselves agreeing with Jack Nicholson. They watch 24 and think it is real.

They are willing to burn the village to save it.

They pay no price.

I gaurantee you...we will see Mr. Feith in the future as a commentator on Fox, doing guest spots on Rush and complaining about how those of weak will lost the struggle.

If you start a war for the wrong reasons and base it on bad information...how can it possible turn out right?

Feith takes a lot of (deserved, imo) flak in several Iraq accounts, including some very strong stuff in Larry Diamond's Squandered Victory.

A textbook case of an intelligent person believing that personal conviction and distant observation combine to make genius and truth.

Soooo, there is finally some degree of admission that Bush and his lackeys lied in order to justify the war.

Well that is just so sweet of them! Of course, many of the anti-war people (including me) were saying such things from the start yet folks like 'Jedi Knight', 'Tony', 'Kodiak', 'rikzilla', and many others were stating that nothing of the sort was occurring.

Once again, I am so very depressed to be proven right once again about this horribly stupid war.

Having been right only proves that you are an evil terrorist-flunky. If you had been wrong, you could be a TV pundit.

Aww, you that voted for Bush twice must be proud. Good job guys!

I still haven't head a good answer to why I seemed to know all this five years ago when most of america and the congress were too stupid to figure it out.

I seriously question the grip on reality of those who ever thought this "war" was a good idea. You people are fuitcakes.
