Simple Challenge For Bigfoot Supporters

I recall sending out an open invitation, but I don't recall putting it like that. Got the link?
No, I admit I'm just going on memory with that. I hope I can be forgiven for not even attempting to look. It was one of the things that brought the JREF to my attention in the first place though. Thanks!:)
Why is this such a big deal?
I don't know if I'd call it a big deal but I'd say the liberal use of ignore is questionable from my perspective.
If I weren't under the weather, I might have caught all those typos (it's the keyboard's fault). Sorry you've got a cold.
Thanks. The typo comment was an attempt at levity. Nobody's perfect.
No appeal to pity, I've just been sick for over a month (I normally shake these things off in a few days) and I'm not as sharp as I should be. It would nice to be able to just take a break without someone making a snide comment about it.
Lu, since my attempt to lighten the mood and make you laugh fell flat may I suggest that you're seeing insults where there are none? Really, JMHO.

I was trying to keep up with a dozen or so posters on multiple threads and it just got to be too much. Roger joined after awhile, but didn't stay long.

I don't consider it liberal, actually. I filtered nearly fifty people in one day on an AOL evolution board just so I could get through the remaining posts.

I'm giving myself more time to read HM's posts and to concentrate on some arguments that are relatively new. I just see no point in rehashing old arguments over and over with the same people.

Thanks. The typo comment was an attempt at levity.

I even missed the comment. Yesterday was scary. I thought I might be leaving Fish 'n' More in an ambulance. I'm better today. I hope it lasts.

If I filtered people because of insults, there'd be few people not on my list. What BD said hurt. We used to be cyber friends, or so I thought. I'd as soon spare myself the ordeal of seeing any more of it.

I did not like the characterization of Rick Noll's supporters. This hero-worship nonsense has gone too far (on three boards, that I know of), IMO. I don't know what the problem is. He gets media attention and others don't? I don't think he even wants it. He's done an excellent job on some of his projects and I'm looking forward to the next. I found RG's comments offensive and when he said I might as well filter him, I agreed.

I do not see how Native legend could account for modern sightings, and I'm not as up on the legends as I'd like to be. Since one of my sources is here on the board (another would be Alley), I think she's the one for mythology debates, not I.

BTW, Hairy Man, if the article on Cryptomondo is the same as the one on Mel's blog, I think I linked to it somewhere on this thread.

Sweet holy Jeebus on a toast!

Could that be the interesting suff from game cams someone was talking about?

I am convinced. I am converted! I see the light! I was blind and now I see!

*starts singing "Amazing Grace"*

Edited to comply with something I wrote a few posts before

Maybe not....

If you haven't seen this, it's incredibly indicative of the state of bigfootery....
No it isn't, this guy (Moneymaker) is a scam artist and everyone knows it. To generalize like that akin to proponents lumping everyone skeptical of bigfoot evidence as closed minded idiots.
I have an interest in the subject and I take exception to being associated with this charlatan.

You're welcome and you are certainly entitled to your opinion but I would have to disagree with your generalization. There are many people who are interested in the subject who aren't stupid enough to fall for every scam or ambiguous item that someone tries to pass along as evidence. You should be able to see that by some of the posters in this thread.

Maybe I don't understand your definition of "bigfootery", care to explain?

So basically you mean anything associated with bigfoot or the conversation of bigfoot...correct? That would include conversations and studies by people like Tube, DesertYeti, RayG, Benjamin Radford, etc... Correct?

Then I still don't understand what you mean by Matt's recent BS being "incredibly indicative of the state of bigfootery...."
You must know that he is being torn to shreds by even some of the most romantic posters and has been for a long time. I'm not trying to argue, I just don't understand.

If you're trying to say that BS and blind belief are rampant I can't argue with that, it's always been that way. I don't like it and I've tried to make people understand why this subject is ridiculed so much, for that I get labeled a troublemaker. I don't have much hope that it will ever change but not everyone interested in this subject is a looneytoon, but I'm sure you realize that.

BTW... would I know you from elsewhere?

Well this looks rather interesting. A test to determine if people can tell the difference between real and fake feetprints....I like it!!

Of course most of the Bleevers on this board are of the armchair variety....which is to say it's not as if Jeffy or Chucky are here to be tested...just people who blather on about how they BLEEV...so even if the test proves that determining authenticity is at best a 50/50 proposition...the Bleevers can always fall back on their experts for that needed shoulder to cry on.

My Bigfeetsus interest ebbs and flows in fits and starts...I always end up frustrated by the whole thing. Bleevers bleev what they want to bleev..not what's illustrated by evidence.....debating them on their pet Bleef is like trying to teach a bowling ball to swim....or attempting to herd cats....nigh impossible...but every once in awhile I get all sentimental and stuff....and I pop in for a check of the news.

This test seems fresh and new...at least it's not the same old tired PGF thread...or Skookum Butt debate...for that I commend the Thread starter.

Hmmm...when the vid started, I thought at first "This looks like an incredibly cheap porn movie." Not that...I've seen any, you understand, but once I wandered into a theater thinking it was a taco stand and...anyway.

But then I thought, "This would play better with sound. 'Yakety Sax' maybe. And a Bigfoot chasing Benny Hill and the blonde around."

Funnier still is all the comments on the website about how they need to run enhancement tests and maybe see if they can get a Hi-Res copy...blah blah blah....blah.

It was in Kentucky first of all...which SHOULD mean that it's dismissed out of hand as anything outside the PNW should be,but I guess news on Hairy Bipeds has been slow so anything...even a video involving Bigfeet AND pancakes in the same sentence will do.

Ho ho, thank you LTC. You get me everytime. I want my five minutes back.

FWIW, I do agree that it's indicitive of bigfootery in that if you're interested in the subject you'll be used to looking at gobbledygook videos and hearing Moneymaker jokes.

Blackdog, since you're new here I'll share some advice if you'd like it. It's a safe bet that anyone here who has a largish number where post counts are indicated or some considerable amount of time having passed since their date of joining and are regularily posting in any of the BF threads has an interest in the subject. LTC is usually the first person with a link to whatever silliness is being trotted out at Cryptomundo.

You've elsewhere stated your position on the subject (one that I can certainly identify with) and I don't think anyone reading LTC's comment is going to think of an association between you and Matt Moneymaker. You may not like to hear this and I mean no offence but as I said when welcoming you here, I am quite familiar with your posts at the BFF and I've often seen there that you are often quick to take exception. Given that was the BFF and you might still be in battle mode but I'm sure I don't need to remind you that the JREF is a very different environment. Here it is never an interest in bigfoot that is criticised but rather what's presented as evidence for the creatures.

Hope you can appreciate that. JMHO.

I asked Ray this question....
What is the criteria that needs to be met for some piece of Bigfoot evidence to carry some weight...for it to have some small degree of probability, or likelihood that it MAY have been created by Bigfoot?
Ray wisely responded:
There ya go with your logically-impaired questions again, mixing probabilities and possibilities. :boggled:
I inquired:
Ray...do you have any idea what the meaning of that question is?
Ray brilliantly replied:
The way you have your terminology intermixed? No. Stick to one or the other, or don't bother asking.
Do you really have no idea at all what it is that I'm asking you, Ray?
That's hard to believe.

How about if we take just the first part of the question......
"What is the criteria that needs to be met for some piece of Bigfoot evidence to carry some weight..?"

Do you have any idea what the meaning of this question is, Ray?
I highlighted a few key words in it for you.

Do you understand what "weight" means with regards to evidence? If so...can you explain it?

Can you show me exactly where I mixed "probabilities" and "possibilities" and why that means this particular question cannot be answered?

I'm not getting your point, Ray.

Willful dishonesty, mistaken identity, or faulty memory are likely explanations given that Joyce claims to have seen a creature for which there is no reliable evidence.

You haven't given even ONE reason why "mistaken identity" is a likely explanation, kitakaze.

And neither have you given a reason why "faulty memory" is a likely explanation.

Oh...and also "willful dishonesty"....you never supplied a reason why that is a LIKELY scenario.
If you truly belive that is a likely thing.....why do you think she decided to call and lie to me?

In your analysis, kitakaze.....which of those 3 explanations is the MOST likely......and why?
