Yes, 1 tonne bags are quite common for smaller jobs - for example, 1 tonne of sand and 1 of aggregate (together with some cement) produces rather a lot of concrete.
Surely materials are delivered in broadly similar quantities (albeit imperial) in the States?
Very interesting. I shall have to investigate that. The largest bag we use is a 90 or 110 LB. I can see where a larger bag, (1 tonne) dumped would keep sand clean and represent a savings on a smaller job.
Hi-ab lorries are those flatbed trucks with the hydraulic articulated arm behind the cab for offloading materials.
Okay, those are used here with a steel bin having sand, gravel or pallets.
And there's no evidence of fertility rites or anything inside Maes Howe; we certainly know that by medieval times, the original entrance and the Viking tunnel had both been lost and it was just a big mound of earth.
In Orkney there was an issue with the removal of these sites by the unversally Christian post-Viking community as they were, of course, pagan sites....
The fertility rites were not necessarily inside the solar observational area, but were rather generally observed as the spiritual essence held by the community participating. Such rites might be conducted for days prior in various surrounding encampments regarding many aspects of fertility that life depends(ed) on.
The solar observations were for the bearers of oral histories to index their circadian rhythm. As well as the shamanic to hone the accuracy of their celestial observations which were their own, distinct oral histories. This factor is not recognized by modern anthroplogists and archeologists which is a major beef I have with them and their mixing of church and state matters. It really gets serious when psychology denies it, becoming pathological.
Fine with me if the church wants to deny that ancients used hypnosis to invoke potential precision with the circadian rhythm to improve chronological accuracy of oral histories. But when academia, a state supported institution goes along with it to the the degree thay have to acccomodate mores of religion, I take exception. It is tantamount to hiding the truth. Western societies general ignorance or disbelief of these facts proves the depth of the problem.
The removal of ancient pagan sites by Christian groups shows how far the "hiding of the truth" goes.
Architect,
My appreciation for you grows as we move away from the tower discussion and into one of history which I can tell you have a respect for.
I apologize for calling you a fake. Hope your knee is healing well.
