"Evolution isn't science"

It does make me realize that no matter how hard science tries to push their lies in schools people grow up and think for them selves!

That such a thing can come from one's mouth whilst benefiting so profusely from science... it just beggars belief.

JF, if you hate science so go to your local desert and have your god provide mana for you.

So what you are saying is that if everything was covered in water for a long period of time all the C-14 dates would be wrong?

Yes I have read Ephesians.

Things that have been soaking in seawater cannot be accurately dated by C-14.

Here's a page on radiocarbon dating and what can go wrong. I got the link from Talk Origins...again.

What is your position on the holding of slaves?

So this one is wrong and yours is right?

JF, mine is not a poll. It is an affirmation. It compares two such affirmations, one by creationists.

For any poll you will find one that says what you want. It is all too easy for the data to massaged. That is why it is important for the raw data to be available. It certainly is in this case.

Do I really need to go through the hassle of finding polls that disagree with you? I can't see what the point would be if you are going to just pick the data you like and ignore the rest anyway.

"According to the poll of professional scientists, over one-fifth—20.6 percent—completely reject evolution. Less than half of the scientists—48.3 percent—believe that it is even possible for man to have evolved from lower forms without supernatural intervention. Do the scientists think that scientific creationism is hurting science education? According to this poll, 39.9 percent say `No.' "—Paul A. Bartz, Letting God Create Your Day, Vol. 1, No. 3 (1990), p. 62.
Let's Google this ...
A poll published in the 1988 issue of the professional magazine, Industrial Chemist, tells us what scientists really believe.
So let's find that issue of Industrial Chemist...

I guess it's not published anymore.

But that does not guarantee that people think correctly.

Um, JF, that makes Christianity a minority belief.

As in 1/3s < 2/3s.

The majority of this planet disagrees with you.

Things that have been soaking in seawater cannot be accurately dated by C-14.
So if I believe everything was covered by water about 4,000 years ago C-14 dating you would agree is worthless?

Jesus_Freak: I think you are starting too big. Everyone assumes that they “understand” the basic concepts of evolution, but from personal experience most do not. Instead of asking why it is you don’t have feathers (which is a clear demonstration that you do not understand the theory), try instead asking, “so, what is the basic underlying fundamental set of principles behind, say, natural selection?” I will be happy to answer that question. If you do not adhere to the logic I present you with then the conversation will be at an end. No more quote throwing etc. you decide for yourself, I decide for myself and it will be over. There are much more interesting threads on this site, things about people injecting fat into other people’s rears and such. Nothing will be accomplished here if you are closed to even contemplating the most fundamental of principles of evolution.

So if I believe everything was covered by water about 4,000 years ago C-14 dating you would agree is worthless?

Your beliefs are irrelevant. You can believe what you like - the utility of C-14 dating comes irrespective of your acceptance.

Um, JF, that makes Christianity a minority belief.
Again not that it matters but about 1 Billion more people believe in the God of the bible than any other religion. Making it by far the most common religion in the world, that does not make it a minority!

"Scientist concede that their most cherished theories are based on embarrassingly few fossil fragments and that huge gaps exist in the fossil record."
Time magazin, Nov. 7, 1977
And, of course, nothing has happened since 1977.

~~ Paul

Everyone assumes that they “understand” the basic concepts of evolution,
Am I wrong in "assuming" that a basic concept of evolution is that all of life has come from a common source?

Is your belief that the Earth is only 10,000 years old based solely on some folks interpertation of the Bible?

Again, I ask...

The reason I ask is because so few... so very few people question their beliefs. Why do we believe the things we do? Skepticism isn't so much about who is right and who is wrong... it's about asking the questions and looking for the answers.

That's not really a concept, but a tentative conclusion based on current evidence.

Are you using a new definition of minority? Why not simply admit you were incorrect.

Hey, that's a good one. All fossils deposited in the flood would be misdated. Actually that has some validity, but as there was no flood 4000 years ago it isn't worth much.

In any case, if the earth is 10,000 years old then animals that died in the flood (4000 years ago) would show an age between 4000 and 10,000 years. This is not what carbon dating shows.

Not if they were covered by water...the seal proved that!
