Hey! I appreciate the response! No, that is a true-blue human footprint, made by me while simply striding normally in wet, compliant sand. This is really nothing new, and more or less a riff on what Dr. Daegling already pointed out; namely that you don't need a "mid-tarsal break" to create rather prominent mid-foot pressure ridges in tracks.

When I first became aware of the famous "Laverty photo" I was amazed, as it seemed markedly different than the usual "stamped" appearance of most purported Bigfoot tracks.

Something that I figured out while doing all these tests is this; it's up to the photographer to decide which tracks to photograph and publicize. I've certainly chosen the one that makes my point, and this leads me to conclude that this may also be going on with Bigfoot advocates; I suspect we see in the various Bigfoot books the tracks that the authors believe look most believable as having been made by Bigfoot.

I suspect this will begin to change with time, as camcorders become cheaper and more common. I suspect we will see YouTube videos of purported Bigfoot trackways in the future.

More fodder to keep the movie rolling...

I've decided to dig in a little to what has Sweaty so convinced. Here is a link to Joyce's original report on the BFRO. Sweaty, try not to have a coniption fit. 'Skeptic harassment' worries aside (that's rich), any information she provided, she provided willingly knowing it was being displayed on the internet. Report #5245

This report is from '83 near Kinderhook in Columbia County, New York State. The BFRO has 83 listings for New York State (though not all are encounter reports). From this I have compiled a list of NY State reports that are roughly contemporaneous with Joyce's report. First I will link BFRO's NY State map followed by individual reports listed alphabetically.

I wonder if some of these reports might somehow involve owls. The lemur creature of report 2405 seemed to me like it could be an owl perched in a tree.

More fake foot follies...

I was bounding around the beach on Saturday. This particular track was made far enough away from the water so that little plants were growing in the sand. It's probably a better simulation for a Bluff Creek "sandbar" than the muddy track I've got on my website at this time.

I do see it. On your earlier photo, the heel was so sharp that I thought, "Hmm. May be fake." But the toes looked real. The mid-tarsal break, I don't know from. The lesson that I'm taking from this is that it's darned hard to distinguish a fake from a real footprint just from a photo.

Looking at the photo Tube posted, all I could say was: "inconclusive".

See? That's not so hard, now is it?:D Pity the BF-fans can't or don't understand the meaning of that word.

It's impossible, not just darned hard.

It's "darned hard" to know the truth even when on the scene looking at the prints on the ground, but at least there you have much more of the story.

So when someone writes something like this after analyzing a photo, you can join me in laughing your ass off at it's utter stupidity:

...I think I have solved the problem of the lack of claw marks in this bear print.

I think the bear stepped in the mud and then dragged his foot forward to make the marks in front.....
