I mean, synonyms of the word are fine, but it's almost like Carlin's old "Seven words you can never say on TV". Certain combinations are taboo.
A rooster is often called a cock.
A lollypop is often called a sucker.
Don't you dare talk about lollypops for roosters.
Very good point, you nice man, you.
I see someone copped a warning and had a post changed for using P1$$ instead of piss a couple of days ago. Now, I see "pissed off" as a couplet everywhere and I've used it lots here myself, so I'd figured that one was ok.
(Now, I'll probably cop one myself)
I have had a warning for using ess aitch 1 tee, while everyone uses ◊◊◊◊ or ***** and has no problem. What's the f(rule8)ing story? Surely f%%king profanity is profanity and EVERY type of euphemism for the real word is just the same as using the word itself.
I get why the rules exist, I just doubt their effectiveness. It's not a children's site and I think anyone over the age 13 is going to know all seven of Carlin's words and not turn to stone seeing them. Every other forum I attend, from Ship of Fools - christian, to Stormfront, allows profanity. You'd think if the christians can do it, we all could.
In the meantime, my sig is the best place to see which is allowable - they are officially approved.
