Long time since I dropped in here ...

I am wondering if anyone can point me to some good material for explaining alternative energies to 6th graders. That is the theme of the 2007 First Lego League robotics competition that they will be in later this year.

Thanks

Okay, I'll bite, with the old saw about stoopid questions: What kind of alternate energy are you talking about- Qi? Chi? Reiki? Psi? Chiropractic? Or do you mean 'alternative energy sources'? Like gasahol, wind farms, algae oil, hydrogen?

A bit of searching found the following page: http://www.hands-on-technology.de/en/firstlegoleague. From there,

FIRST LEGO League 2007 “POWER PUZZLE”

Alternative Energy Resources
- Meeting the Global Demand -

How do our personal energy choices to do things like heat our homes, fuel our cars, charge our cell phones, power our computers, or even download music to our IPODS impact the environment, economy, and life around the globe? Which resources should we use and why?
Explore how energy creation and consumption choices affect the planet and our quality of life today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Can FIRST LEGO League teams find the ultimate solution to this global Power Puzzle?

So... solar, gasohol, etc.

The latter, yes. It would need to be very general. We're not picking "one" yet ...
