Oh thanks, it ought to be since Swedish is one of my primary languages.

My grandfather came from Sweden and my dad met my mum when he was working in Stockholm, and as I said my sister in law is also from Sweden.

You keep mentioning sociological data. Would you consider suicide rates, for example, as "sociological data"? For example, if Region A of the world has a significantly higher suicide rate than region B, wouldn't it "prove" that people living in Region A are more unhappy and more prone to commit violence on themselves?

I'll answer my own question: No, it doesn't. A lot of different factors are responsible for suicide rates, and all need to be carefully considered before making any sweeping generalizations about a particular population or society. The same is true for any type of "sociological data" you can cite. Sure, you can pick and choose and find what you want to support your own prejudices and bolster your own sense of self-worth. But the world is a lot more subtle and complex than can be captured in any data set.

Frankly, I think your views on Americans are very unsophisticated and simplistic, and wholly unworthy of -- indeed insulting to -- the presumedly superior society in which they formed.
