Berger back in the news

Alex Jones has clearly stated that CNN is run by the Pentagon, so I guess we can dismiss the story as a feeble attempt to divide and confuse us. There. I feel better already.

President Clinton's national security adviser removed classified documents from the National Archives, hid them under a construction trailer and later tried to find the trash collector to retrieve them, the agency's internal watchdog said Wednesday.

I always thought the Clinton administration was trailer trash.

Heh... I kill myself...

Don't let us talk you out of it.

Oooh, you liberals are testy... Hey, when Jay Leno tells a joke about how Bush can't put a sentence together, I laugh along with him. You guys shouldn't take yourselves so seriously.

I have mixed feelings when liberal/conservatives "tiffs" surface in this forum. On the one hand I think it's a distraction from the main business. But on the other, it shows the tin hatters that despite our political differences, we can agree that skeptics believe evidence trumps politics.

As a liberal, however, I can't help but wonder if, at the time, conservatives were as skeptical of the Clinton CT as us liberals are of the Bush ones. ;)

Well I am hardly the poster child for the right wing (I was a McCain supporter), but I never bought into the (more limited) Clinton theories. Waco was unfortunate, and some poor police work, but it was not a sign of an impending police state. The Vince Foster thing was a little weird, but I never saw any proof of foul play.

It's all in good fun. Right-wingers always miss my jokes, then accuse me of having no sense of humor. It just happened again, but I'm calm now.

There is a relevance to the Truther and CT thing: if 9/11 had happened under a Democratic President, the 9/11 "inside job" theory would be headline news every day. The Right would never be able to resist a story that made a Democratic President look bad. Fox News would be interviewing a Truther every five minutes. There would be no legion of right-wing bloggers tearing "Loose Change" apart. There would be a multi-million dollar investigation, impeachment proceedings--the whole bit. Liberals would be getting very little help from the Right.

Ahhhh--we knew Clinton wasn't smart enough for all that stuff.
We kne it was Ted Kennedy behind it all!:D

I think the difference is, with most of the Clinton CTs, you didn't need to break the laws of physics to believe them. All you needed to do was believe that Clinton, and everyone around him, was a completely amoral SOB.

If the current CTs had stuck to LIHOP, they'd be of similar scope, and probably would have stayed at the same level of interest for most people who aren't CTists. But with MIHOP, you get a whole new level of crazy, which attracts a lot more attention.

Think about it - do any of the popular CT videos stick solely to LIHOP? Nope, because when you get right down to it, LIHOP is boring. Same old money&power BS we've seen for ages. But MIHOP pops! Secret bomb squads, robot airplanes, FEMA death camps, Oh Boy!

Only if the Republicans held Congress under him. I think if Gore won in 2000, I mean got the electoral votes, in 2002 Congress probably would have won Congress than.

Whew, thank god Bush was in office, then!.....wait a minute....

Of course 9/11 would never have happened under a Democratic Administration.

But the media in the U.S. is insanely tilted to the Right. I'll bet you saw virtually every cockamamie conspiracy theory about Clinton well-aired on the mainstream media. I remember seeing a Saturday Night Live routine about Vince Foster's suicide.

Here in the spirit of bi-partisan joke telling, here is my favorite Leno line of the week.

President Bush has moved out national intelligence director john negroponte and appointed mike mcconnell. Negroponte didn’t see the move coming. Which might explain why he's no longer the head of intelligence.

Getting back to the original topic, here's probably the real reason there was something on CNN about this yesterday, since the "Berger stashed papers under the trailer" story is about three weeks old.

This kind of stuff may result in a push for a new 9-11 investigation:

"The 9/11 Commission relied on incomplete and misleading information regarding its access to documents Mr. Berger reviewed. No one ever told the Commission that Mr. Berger had access to original documents that he could have taken without detection."

I rest my case. If there's a Democrat involved, the possibility of investigations becomes real.
