Looks like a nice reasonable open minded bloke to me....

You may commence the caption contest!

Click the link...there's a forum at a faux Islamic web site that these utter morons have set up in order to insult every muslim on the planet. I decided to post there as the voice of reason by highlighting my veteran status as well as my active membership in the Patriot Guard Riders.

It took them one post to call me a "traitor".

Nice folks...nope not biased at all....just worried about their property values you know!

BTW: I was born in San Antonio. I love Texas. These idiots are NOT REPRESENTATIVE of Texans!

What is KIA community center?

edit: never mind, the article answered that question

I finally got a "reasonable" attempt at debate from one of those folks:

rikzilla,
Do you believe that, if residents do not want a Wal Mart built in their community, they have a right to "fight" to keep one from being built there?
tnt

Of course. But you need to ask yourself if that was the case...would you be fighting it by trying to religiously offend all the people in Bentonville, Arkansas?

I think I'm done with CTists for a while. There's just sooo much more forms of stupid afoot these days!

What I want to see is a pig run a race against a camel.
Now, that would be exciting.

IMO, local muslims would gain big points in that community by attending the pig races, and offering their own style of hospitality -- maybe set up a booth to serve traditional MidEastern flatbread (Pitta) and falafel sandwiches?
I have no doubts that the Texans would be suitably impressed.
After all, a pitta sandwich is just a variation on the ever-popular taco.

They had a segment on this situation on Saturday's "Weekend America" on NPR.

They interviewed the "pig farmer", the folks that want to build the Islamic center, and some of the other neighbors. A fairly well-balanced piece, actually.
They pointed out that in this area, there is almost nothing in the way of zoning ordinances.

I guess you're right. Muslim-hating bigotted nutter CTs are hardly worth bothering with. Unlike many fine upstanding members of the Politics Forum, who are completely mentally normal in every respect.

One of the funniest lines I read about this whole situation was on another forum and I don't have all the details but someone speaking for the Mosque said (paraphrasing) "Why would we be offended by pig races? We don't hate pigs, we just don't eat them."

I can fully understand people not wanting any large structure (big box store, religious edifice, prison, etc.) being built in unincorporated areas. The infrastructure hassles alone would be enough to make we want to try and stop it but purposefully trying to insult people because you have a disagreement over a zoning issue just makes me embarassed to be a Texan.

Muslim is not a race, why do you ask?

The only races mention in this thread before your post are contests of porcine speed rather than ethnic groupings.

ahem

"Not Texas racism"

Are you saying it was racism?

That was my OP...what I meant was that this thread was not about
the average charge of racism in Texas. (There was another thread here covering some more mundane Texas based bigotry which I had just read.)

...and oh yeah...I'm a native Texan too.

Texas is a famously big place, there are a lot of good people there too. It's
childish morons like the pig farmer that give us all a crappy rep.
