Sylvia's predictions for 07!!

For someone with such power it seems odd she would waste so much of her energies focusing on the personal lives of celebrities.

I just want to go on the record with my predictions:

A very famous person that we all love will die next year and we will all be saddened. Not sure exactly who, but their last name begins with a consonant.

A weather event will cause havoc and people will die because of it.

A celebrity couple will be in the news a lot this year.

A political crisis will occur in an important foreign country.

New discoveries in medicine will bring us all hope.

We will be apalled by a violent act that will be widely televised.

America will be happily surprised by a smash hit film.

I predict a cute, white child will go missing and the story will capture the heart of America.

For someone with such power it seems odd she would waste so much of her energies focusing on the personal lives of celebrities.

On the contrary, why waste her "psychic powers" on The Little People?

It makes perfect sense to focus on celebrities. If you are a crook, of course.

Claus, I've added this program to the Van Praagh tape I'll bring to you at TAM. Sorry, missed the last five minutes, mostly commercials and a plea to pray for Sylvia's unmentioned family problem.

I saw the end of the episode when it aired at 10:00. I could have sworn Montel said, "a murder?" when he was looking at Syl, and she nodded sadly. But I'm not sure he said that. I watched the episode in its entirety at 3:00 and I don't recall the conversation going that way at all. Of course my hubby chose that moment to come into the room and talk to me so I may have missed it.
I've always wondered about the celebrity thing, too. I haven't cared about celebs lives since I was about 13 so I watch and say, "I don't care," but I suppose many people enjoy that so that's why Syl says those things. And predicting that celeb marriages won't last is a safe bet. Few do.
Montel always touts her "hits" but not her "misses" as we all know here. He makes her sound like a prophet, for goodness sakes.
Her most frequent words that grate on my nerves are "yeah, I know, I know" and "but that's what I'm saying," and she seems to pick at her teeth with those waving claws. Argh!

At the end of yesterday's show I didn't see anything about a murder. This is what I got. I'm not sure if Montel said "movie" or "move". My tape is gone and the caption log was corrupted. The question was what does 2007 have in store for everyone:

>> Montel: Not a comfortable year, a better year?
>> Sylvia: I think it's a comfortable year. I don't see it as a big -- a sparkling year, but I'll take comfortable over nightmare stuff, and confusion, depression and distress.
>> Montel: I'll hit you up with one of me. Am I doing a move(?) this year?
>> Sylvia: I bet you do, and I bet it's with somebody you know.
[ Laughter and applause ]
>> Montel: And on that note, join us on the next "Montel."
[ Cheers and applause]

By the way, there was a spike in the number of visits to the SSB site yesterday, and in the amount of email I received.

It would appear that "Sylvia Browne Wednesdays" will be bringing me traffic...

Her focus on celebrity divorces is so laughable. You could not pick a safer bet. Few high-profile celebrity marriages last longer than two or three years, and the bigger the celebs, the higher the probability that their romance will flame out quickly.

I'm shamelessly obsessed with celebrity culture, and off the top of my head I can think of only a select few bona fide A list celebrity couples that have been together for more than a few years. You could take any currently existing celeb couple--Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, whoever--and predict a divorce, and your chances of success will be much higher than, say, predicting a natural disaster in a specific region.

Interesting that she never seems to predict the anonymous stories that become widespread news, like the James Kim story or the Sago Mine tragedy.

Yeah...was there anybody with an IQ of over 120 who didn't see Britney getting a divorce? It didn't take a psychic to see that coming.
