Accurate conspiracy film?

"Accurate conspiracy theory" is an oxymoron, like "jumbo shrimp" or "documentary integrity" when applied to Loose Change.

Really. There's no such thing as an accurate conspiracy theory? That seems to me to be a fairly strong and sweeping claim.

Speaking of conspiracy theories. Read up on Jan Karski (though this was not an ilolated incident), who was with the Polish underground during WW2. He infiltrated the ghettos and met with Jewish leaders, in addition to infiltrating Belzec death camp, among others. When he finally reached the Polish government-in-exile in London, he asked to speak to representatives of the British and US governments and presented his accounts of what he had witnessed. While they were happy with much of the info they got from him, they dismissed the whole extermination thing, even with photos.
He spent the rest of the war in the US trying to convince people, particularly Jewish leaders, what was going on. And he was called a liar.

Is this film accurate, or the equivalent of "Loose Change"?

The short answer is "Both". As another poster mentioned, radiation studies on human subjects are well documented. The problem is that, as with "Loose Change" it consists of "sound bites" and information taken out of context. Until the latter part of the 20th century there were all kinds of medical experiments done on humans in which ethics (and often common sense) were violated and in which patients were either not informed of the nature of the experiment or inadequately informed. It's certainly not limited to radiation experiments.

A person watching this film with no other information on hand could easily conclude that these experiments were the same as Nazi concentration camp experiments. I think that's wrong, although as I said they were often unethical. There's a lot of data on these experiments and the ethical issues surrounding them. A good starting place would be the Health Physics Society's web site. You have to be a member for full access, but there are stil some useful links, and anybody can use the "Ask the Experts" and "Experts Answers" section.

Radiation experiments by the US Government on unwitting civilians are well documented.

Sources and cases?

The fact is they use to use radium for removing birth marks in the fifties; Why did they not know it would cause cancer! Unknown, they did not know.

My brother has to be checked for his exposure by doctors in the fifties; my mom saved his life, she just did not feel right about it; talk about miracles, she saved his life!

They did not know! You would not know!

It does sound like LC and if you think he just stings stuff without support or logical connections! Just look up some of the stuff and you can research the researcher stuff!

You need to research before going on a witch hunt.

The following is a summary of the UPI article on the Radioactive food experiments. For those who have access to clarinet.news, the originial United Press International article is available under clari.tw.nuclear; clari.tw.health; or clari.news.issues.civil_rights. The message -ID is , and Dated 28 Dec 93 6:01:59 PST.

Waltham Mass: Officials from the state of Massachussetts and from the US Department of Energy are investigating reports that 49 teanagers with mental handicaps at Fernald State School were fed radioactive oatmeal in tests conducted between 1946 and 1956. The study was funded by the US Atomic Energy Commission and the Quaker Oats Comapany with researchers from Harvard University and Massachussetts Institute of Technology running the project.

According to Dr. Malcolm Ferrell who was superintendent of Fernald during the study, families were not told that that radiation (radioactive calcium and iron) was involved but only that they were taking part in experiments involving a special diet that was high in vitamins and minerals.

Representatives of MIT have defended the experiments saying that subjects were rotated to minimize total exposure and that only very small doses of radioactive materials were used.

Thanks for the links – I think I have been here before – My brother's case; was it a CT or just lack of knowledge?

Why do we not use radium now to remove birth marks?

How much have we learned?

Who is taking all the Satin drugs now? What will we know in 40 years?

Who is going to start taking classes and become the guys who save us from the things that are dumb now?

Thanks for the links; but the video should be saying look how dumb everyone was! Why was everyone so dumb? Lack of knowledge and dumb about radiation. Dumb as dirt.

Seems like new stuff is always the thing to cure everything, these idiots thought they had the miracle do all, save all device!

Cocaine was like this, lets use it for depression; why do I miss the dumb stuff that was fun stuff? Is radiation sickness better than cocaine addiction?

What great stuff are we doing to day that is so primitive to our great grand children?

The film is like LC until you cut into each story and dissect why, who, and how they messed up! Mixed with well know events and ideas, you are drawn into what?

The radium on my brothers ear, stopped his growth on that ear; my mom's feelings saved his life! The 50s, who would know how dumb they were? Wait until you know a fact or a wrong idea; but those around you do the dumb stuff anyway! Why did you let them?

Here, use some lead to keep your apple cider press from leaking; lead is great stuff, wow, look it makes great paint!!!! Was this a CT so the King could take of towns full of loons in 20 years, or just ignorance?

Education may help us stop idiots from messing up the world; I am going back to school.

Good post

Ra-di-a-tion. Yes, indeed. You hear the most outrageous lies about it. Half-baked goggle-box do-gooders telling everybody it's bad for you. Pernicious nonsense. Everybody could stand a hundred chest X-rays a year. They ought to have them, too. When they canceled the project it almost did me in. One day my mind was full to bursting. The next day - nothing. Swept away. But I'll show them. I had a lobotomy in the end.

You ever hear of the neutron bomb? Destroys people - leaves buildings standing. Fits in a suitcase. It's so small, no one knows it's there until - BLAMMO. Eyes melt, skin explodes, eve-ry-body dead. So immoral, working on the thing can drive you mad.

Actually it leaves a big hole, and has blast effects; sorry a nuke still makes a big bang!

At ~700 m the blast from a 1 kilo-ton neutron bomb will destroy almost any building. If you are unprotected you could have a leath radiation dose at ~1400 feet almost double a normal bomb, those closer in tanks could survive the blast but not the radiation.
