Bumper sticker. . .(shudder)

"Doubt your doubts"?

You know. Focus on that shiny, sparkley fantasy, stick your fingers in your ears and go "NAANAANAANAANAANAANAANAANAAANAAAN!" In other words, pick something you want to believe and ignore all evidence to the contrary.

I'm sorry... Waaa???
Joobz, slow down and parse it. Like you, I often see something confusing and I don't want to take the time to figure it out. Often those things are quite simple. We just need to break it down into bite sized chunks.

If it can be done with prayer then it can be done without.

There are many things that people credit prayer for.
  1. Solving seemingly impossible financial problems.
  2. Recovering from what is believed to be a fatal illness.
These things happen all of the time without prayer.

If it can't be done without prayer it can be done with it.
On the other hand, there are many things that people never credit prayer for because they just never happen.
  1. Amputees never grow their limbs back.
  2. Severely retarded people don't stop being severely retarded.
These things never happen whether they are prayed for or not.

I owe you an appology joobs.

If it can't be done without prayer it can be done with it.
This is wrong.

Change that to If it can't be done without prayer it can't be done with it.

Sorry joobs.

no apologies needed. :) I enjoyed your explanation much more than the proverb anyways.

but what about the things that can't be done with prayer alone? these are the things that always annoyed me. It minimizes the efforts of those who actually do things.

Now I'm the one confused and damn embarrased for lecturing you on parsing sentences. Damn. Every time I climb up on my soap box I fall off. You would think that I would learn.

Give me an exampe of the things that can't be done with prayer alone?

Well, things like organ transplants, firtility clinics, sex change operations, buildings... Just praying for these things doesn't make it happen. You need the scientific intervention to make it so. But for some reason, when it's successful....Who gets the credit.

Gotcha, great point.

Speak for yourself. I think your just jealous because no one hired you to write the OS for humans. ;)

God made the mountains
God made the sky
God made the people

Then in come the people
And gum it up good

A little girl goes walking with her daddy by the shore.
Gee daddy, why is the sky blue.
Because god made it that way.
Gee daddy, why is the ocean a greenish blue.
Because god made it that way.
Gee daddy, why do we have a moon.
Because god made it that way.
Gee daddy, why do fish live in the ocean.
Because god made it that way, (do you see a pattern here?)
Gee daddy, I love asking you questions, I learn so much.
That is why I am here, because god made it that way.

That should be on KK level.

OK sort of long for a bumper sticker but hey, what the heck:

"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." - Doesn't that make the Lord the ultimate Indian Giver? :D

Yes, with the Jesus thing.

But if you really look at the Giver thing, that should be White Man Giver, isn't it the white man who always took back the land that was to be the Indian’s land forever and ever.

Perception is reality. The white man was good at revisionist history. You are right of course.

I'll take a child like faith anyday over the skeptism that is ripping people off!

It says in Luke 10:21-22... At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Simple faith like a child is what I thank God for.

....Every year amputees, severly retarded persons and paraplegics make a pilgramage to lourdes in search of a miracle. Many of these are people of great faith but none are ever healed. In fact, the Catholic Church actually tracts the so-called "miracles" and amputees are never on the list. Why is that? The only "miracles" are those that are possible by standards that have nothing to do with god......

One falsehood deserves another?

The truth:

...To ensure claims of cures were examined properly and to protect the town from fraudulent claims of miracles, the Lourdes Medical Bureau was established. Approximately 7000 people have sought to have their case confirmed as a "miracle," of which only 67 have been declared a scientifically inexplicable "miracle" by both the Bureau and the Catholic Church...

How the hell does skepticism rip people off?

It places a force field around your chimney so Santa can't get in.

The Tooth Fairy loses your address.

What's in the Easter Bunny's basket may still be round and brown, but it's not chocolate.
