Bumper sticker. . .(shudder)

Get a grip and cut the persecuted-religious-type crap.

Saying The state must teach only science in science class is a far far cry from denying anyone's religious freedom. If any side in the religion-in-schools debate is guilty of pushing their "crap" to the exclusion of any other, it's the christian side that pushes thinly disguised religious belief as science when all the science in fact weighs against it.

Tell me that idea again, please. It seems to be lost in your capitals.

A terrible affliction known as Critical Thinking. The initial onset presents as severe mental discomfort followed by what is euphemistically knowns as a "dropping of the veils." Frequently accompanied by community ostracism. Later symptoms include optimism and tolerance punctuated by uncontrollable verbalizations in the form of "You've got to be kidding me" and "You realize there is no evidence at all in support of that, don't you?"

It's usually fatal.

DUDE its this simple. You dont tell my kids that God DIDNT create everything and I will permit you to teach them the theery of evolution.
If you need clarification just ask.

P.S. As long as you dont DENY God there is no problem. Yet you have problems that result in absurd legislation. Everything was hunky dory till you 'had' a 'problem' and now the situation is ridiculous. are you happy? No Will you ever be? No. Thats becauase the 'problem' is 'psychological' and it is entirely yours. Get back to me AFTER you have successfully dealt with it.

Doesn't some of the latests scientific knowledge show that in fact people came from rocks, or the dirt? And scripture tells us God did in fact create us from the dust of the earth, so what's the problem? God can do anything and it absolutely amazes me.

But people ought not to forget that we were all created in the image of God, the most valued of His creations. So tell me then why so many choose to deny their maker? If evolution makes people deny there is a God then I'm all for banning it from the schools, too many gaps in that theory to be true!

For the benefit of my children I'll ask that you not mention god in public.

No, it doesn't. Obviously, since life arose on a planet with no life, it was built from the raw materials of that planet. However, most of the carbon in our bodies is taken from plant and animal material. Tracing it back, the carbon that is fixed is mostly done by photosynthesis from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Other mineral, like calcium do come from the soil indirectly (again by eating plants or animals that eat plants) but quixotically, much of the minerals in modern farming are taken from animal guano and fossil calcium. There are lots of intermediate steps between "rock" and "flesh".

Of course, those responsible for the creation myths did not know this, or much of anything about chemistry, so they can be forgiven for substituting magical beliefs. Now that we know better, it is foolish to do so.

But remember, Kathy, you can always tack on "that's the way Godiddit" to any knowledge gained by science, thereby preserving your "faith" without having to rationalize myths.

God can do anything and it absolutely amazes me.
You can believe anything, and it doesn't amaze me one iota.

But people ought not to forget that we were all created in the image of God, the most valued of His creations.
Really? We aren't the most numerous. We aren't the ones who have been around the longest. How do you know what God's value system is? Oh, yeah. I forgot. You created Him in your image. Of course he has the same value system as you.

So tell me then why so many choose to deny their maker?
Lack of evidence for "their maker".

If evolution makes people deny there is a God then I'm all for banning it from the schools, too many gaps in that theory to be true!
Your knowledge of evolution could fit on the back of a postage stamp, so if you feel the need to be commenting on its "truth" then be aware that there are a number of people here who have a lot of knowledge about it. All you have is some fundie websites which you believe without understanding.

And evolution does not make people deny there is a god. Just repeat after me. "Goddidit and evolution is how Goddidit". You'll be fine.

Dude we always have been Christian
Really? What brand?

and always will be.
Propheteering now, are you? You needn't interpret scripture at all to know that's a bad thing.

Canadian Malcontent said:
What is your problem anyway?
In relation to this thread? I have none.

Canadian Malcontent said:

Show me a public school curriculum that does this. Just one.

Canadian Malcontent said:

No such permission required, thanks. The Supreme Court has already said that teaching science in science class is constitutional.

Canadian Malcontent said:

Please clarify your position on what is an allowable topic to be taught in the science classes of a public school in the United States.

Canadian Malcontent said:

What problem would there be if I denied god?

Canadian Malcontent said:

Please be specific.

What problems do I have?

What absurd legislation?

Canadian Malcontent said:

It most certainly is ridiculous that Intelligent Design is still paraded as science when it most certainly is not and when its supporters have been shown to be liars with a religious agenda.

Canadian Malcontent said:
are you happy?
Doing fine, thanks. You?

Canadian Malcontent said:
No Will you ever be? No.
Wrong and wrong.

More of that christian charity?

Now, now. Let's just get it out of the way now as long as we're both here anyway.

Doesn't some of the latests scientific knowledge show that in fact people came from rocks, or the dirt?

No. Overwhelmingevidence.com is not a scientific site.

And scripture tells us God did in fact create us from the dust of the earth, so what's the problem?

The only problem is that you keep telling us we have to agree with you.

God can do anything and it absolutely amazes me.

I used to be amazed by Aesop's Fables and Just-So Stories. So what?

But people ought not to forget that we were all created in the image of God, the most valued of His creations.

Remember that "problem" you asked about earlier? There it is now.

So tell me then why so many choose to deny their maker?

It hasn't done any good so far.

If evolution makes people deny there is a God then I'm all for banning it from the schools, too many gaps in that theory to be true!

Let it go, Sling. Just let it go......

Not gonna happen, 1st Amendment, my 'Ancient Rights'.
you spout your deal and i will spout mine. If you cant handle it become a monk.
In this, we almost agree.

Contrary to the shrieks of some outraged fundamentalists, there is no prohibition against prayer in school or against mentioning god in school.

What is prohibited are school-led activities promoting a religion (or religions).

Teaching the history of christianity in school is fine. Allowing children to pray in a non-disruptive manner is fine.

Pretending that Intelligent Design is science and teaching it in science class is not fine.

So it's a double standard you want. If I want evolution, perfectly good science, taught in science class, you have a problem. If I suggest that you should keep your religion to yourself and private you have a problem.

I could care less about the first amendment. Why? I'm Canadian and I thought you were too. I think you have us confused with another nation.

You were thinking of this part of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms:

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
a) freedom of conscience and religion;
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
d) freedom of association.

I just wanted to test if you expected a double standard. Your religious beliefs will in no way ever stop my children from being the intelligent, kind and caring people they were raised to be. They were also raised atheist.

And I'll pray that they come to know Christ even though you didn't choose to bring them up with faith. If one of your children become a born-again Christian will you hate or dis-own them?

Didn’t Jesus question his so-called father on the cross about forsaking him.

DUDE, get a F-ing grip, if school led activities pertaining to Christ are prohibited then we will change that.

The main problem is the DENIAL of God, how many tyimes do I have to say that? You do not address the fundamental problem you have created.

I can only conclude that you do not wish to respect Christian families and are driven scientology style to the destruction of our societies foundation , that being the family.
Knock yourself out!!! Loser, we are and always have been bigger better stronger and faster than your kind, thats why we rule and you have a pot to piss in.
Hey its real simple , you agree not to push YOUR gay, abortion, evolution crap on my children and I wont make my Government outlaw evolution and its biologic signatures. But you have already lost that battle.
Shut yer yap nobody cares, focus on science and leave politics to those competent in the field.
You are digging your own grave and bringing science into disrepute.
It doesnt matter what you THINK you know what matters is how the people feel, what is the will of the people ( how they are gonna vote).
Shut up and get with the program evo yes, Creation denial NO, how hard is that to understand?

And I'll pray that they come to know Christ even though you didn't choose to bring them up with faith. If one of your children become a born-again Christian will you hate or dis-own them?

Go ahead and pray your heart out if it makes you feel better. No, I would not abandon my children for any reason. If one of them became born again it might make our solstice celbration more interesting. It's very unlikely to happen as they, like me, find religion to be pretty much absurd and immoral. They are equal oppurtunity though, they find all the religions pretty much equally absurd.

DUDE, get a F-ing grip, if school led activities pertaining to Christ are prohibited then we will change that.
Not if you're in the United States. Not for long, anyway, as the courts have been consistent about it.

I notice you haven't pointed out one public school curriculum that denies god.

Canadian Malcontent said:

My personal denial is a problem for you? Tough.

Or is it a denial in public schools that is a problem? If so, you're making stuff up.

Point out one public school curriculum that denies god.

Canadian Malcontent said:

I don't have a fundamental problem.

You don't want me to have public schools deny god. I'm fine with that; they shouldn't.

I don't want public schools to promote god. If you're not fine with that, you're a hypocrite.

Canadian Malcontent said:

I see. So you apply your own biased interpretations of my posts in the same manner that you arbitrarily interpret scripture. Whatever you want is right, right?

Canadian Malcontent said:

Can't stand scientology.

Canadian Malcontent said:

Ah.

Atheist = Destroyer of Families

Is that it?

Canadian Malcontent said:
Knock yourself out!!! Loser,
Feel the christian love...

Which "we?" Are you Roman Catholic?

Pentecostal?

Southern Baptist?

Church of Christ?

Church of Latter Day Saints?

Episcopalian?

Presbyterian?

Jehovah's Witness?

Canadian Malcontent said:

Cool! Olympics for the religious!

I'm betting some of those atheist Nordic skiiers will whoop the socks of the best Presbyterian out there.

Canadian Malcontent said:

Then why isn't Intelligent Design allowed to be taught as science in publich schools?

Canadian Malcontent said:

A bathroom, actually, though Europe calls them water closets or a clo or somesuch.

Running water and everything. Hot AND cold.

Canadian Malcontent[Hey its real simple said:
Damn! Foiled again.

As long as you never find the Turn-Them-Gay additives in the cafeteria meatloaf, we're fine.

Canadian Malcontent said:

Get your god to actually stop evolution and remove all its evidence and I'm sold. Short of that, though, you'll need more than bluster.

Canadian Malcontent said:
But you have already lost that battle.
Nope.

Canadian Malcontent said:
Shut yer yap nobody cares,
You sound amazingly like renato.

Canadian Malcontent said:
focus on science and leave politics to those competent in the field.
Ah. So your religion is politics and has no evidence after all?

Canadian Malcontent said:
You are digging your own grave and bringing science into disrepute.
Chuckle.

Canadian Malcontent said:
It doesnt matter what you THINK you know what matters is how the people feel, what is the will of the people ( how they are gonna vote).
Then you have no problem at all with the FACT that the people and the courts have decided that Intelligent Design is not science.

With your disjointed posts, fairly difficult indeed.

Thomas Jefferson and John Adams and Ben Franklin, amount many of the founding fathers, would turning in there graves if they heard how this country is being screwed up by the so-called religious (un-)right.
