Opinions, please!!

Hi all, I stumbled upon this book excerpt, does anyone know (or know of) this supposed former sceptic who's now been converted into a true believer? :):)
No, but many woos claim to be former skeptics and were deconverted by some such nonsense.
Also, I would appreciate your opinions of his (alleged) experiences.
Can't comment on his experiences, only on the report of those experiences. Same old BS. It's an anecdote. It means nothing, zip, nada.

This is hella stupid.

Here's the kicker. If you read the article you'll know why this is retarded:

"At the time that I write this, Jessica is still living. However, by the time this book is edited, sold to a publisher, re-edited, printed and published, and then finally distributed to bookstores and purchased by you, I can only guess—based on other predictions I have seen come true from several psychic mediums I now know—that Jessica has crossed-over and is presently home."

Let me summarize the article here:

"Some psychic told me my cousin Jessica would die! While this still hasn't happened, I'm so certain that it will that I've been converted to a woo woo! Hail Satan!"

Yes, that's pretty creepy!! From what I've read about psychics (those who take themselves seriously and really believe they have a connection to "the beyond"), they are usually quite resistant to death predictions, and to predict the death of someone who is not even there to get a "reading" seems unethical.

I think it is sick how he has come to terms with her untimely death that has not even happened.

"Jessica has crossed-over and is presently home."

I wonder how Jessica felt when she read that. :\

BOB OLSON is a former skeptic and private investigator who has researched evidence of life after death for approximately five years. He now shares the spiritual insights, extraordinary experiences and gifted individuals he has met along his journey in order to bring hope, comfort and peace to the grieving. Bob is the author of Win The Battle, co-author of Understanding Spirit, Understanding Yourself and editor of GriefAndBelief.com, OfSpirit.com Magazine, & BestPsychicMediums.com.

The Spirits have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can. Of course they can.

Any single point of confirming eveidence? No? Didn't think so.

"A tale told by a fool, signifying naught." ;)

Just another moron jumping on the bandwagon. It's quite lucrative, I'm told.

I don't believe a word of his twaddle.

In the meantime, among Vicki’s other predictions that have since come true, Jessica got married, moved to California because of her husband’s job, and her husband’s father—not her husband—has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. If you want to yell, “Aha! She was wrong! It was the father who got prostate cancer, not the husband,” then I have much to teach you about mediums. It is common among mediums to be off on a detail like this. Spirit-to-medium communication is not perfect; there is static, misunderstandings and misinterpretations. And, of course, there is still the possibility that her husband will incur the same diagnosis as his father in time. Despite the consequences, Vicki assures me, or should I say that the spirit-guides with whom she consults assure me, that Jessica’s death prediction is not a misinterpretation. No such luck.
Re the bolded section. Mediums get details like this wrong. No *****!!! It's not to do with "poor spirit-to-medium" connection, it's to do with medium-to-client BS.

Wow, I could be a medium based on making that single prediction alone, considering:

American cancer society said:
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer, other than skin cancers, in American men. The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates that during 2006 about 234,460 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in the United States. About 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime

[Woo]Somebody will or has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.[/woo]
Wheres my cool $1M.

By the way, seriously, it's a young mans cancer, but it's very responsive to treatment, go and talk to your doctor about screening boys.

Of course, I'm sure the scientific studies and extensive research published in peer-reviewed journals to validate all this are in the works now.

No? Oh, okay.

More vague stories, and no real evidence.

I just find his conviction that his cousin is on the way out very disturbing. There are plenty of reports about people being told by Psychics or Palm Readers or other fortune tellers they would not live beyond age "*", and they are still alive and kicking many years later. Maybe he has a vested interest in Jessica's demise. :):)
