randi the harasser

talkinfg about psychics, the other day discovery channel showed psychics who helped police find solution for crimes. As the cops revealed it was so detailed that it couldnt have been a fraud or trick. One of those Mediums who helped them was a certain Nancy Weber.Know her?:)

1. You'd be surprised how many details can be found out through non-paranormal means.

2. Get to the original sources. I doubt they agree with Discovery.

also note the guy can't even get the acronym correct when the complete name of the organization is right there in front of him. PSICOP is the sarcastic version that woos like to use.

Doh, I can't believe I missed that when I replied... I mean... ah, I meant to add "because it doesn't exist" after my comments about the fictional PSICOP.

Never heard of her. What's her rate for a private session? I'll bet it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $100/hour.

Try $200/hr.

Assuming this is who idunno is talking about:

That's a pretty good chunk of change.

But I'm sure she just does it to help people out.

ETA: Also note that she charges the same rate of personal sessions, animal readings, and working on crimes. So generous of her, so generous. She shares this talent with the world and all she asks for in return is two or three hundred grand a year.

Many people make money for their services. So?
Offhand, the ones I can think of that charge this much to individuals on an hourly basis are Doctors, Lawyers, and various pschiatric health care people. So most of those who charge $200/hr for their services leave you with a bit more to show for your expenses than a psychic. They are far more legally bound to give actual help and to perform within a certain range of acceptable behavior. Medical professionals and lawyers belong to professional organizations as well as being regulated by the government, and can be stripped of their right to practice their trained and certified in profession for malpractice or malfeasance.

In general it's hardly a problem to make a living while helping people, but getting rich off of desperate people while not helping them is generally considered poor form. I'm sure you'll argue she's helping, but I've yet to see a psychic I thought was really helping anyone but themself.

If I was paying someone to communicate with the dead, I'd want them to, you know, communicate with the dead, not act like it for entertainment purposes only.

From the article in the OP:

The court ordered Randi not to come within a specified distance from Geller or he would be arrested. Randi was also asked to pay Geller a certain amount for all the mental torture and emotional trouble he caused.

Does this mean Randi tortured Geller mentally? Can Randi win his own challenge? ;)

whos russell targ?
What!? You've never heard of the (in)famous Puthoff and Targ? The other P & T? ;)

They ran a whole slew of debunked studies. I believe they were mentioned in one of Randi's ealry books (Flim Flam or The Truth About Uri Geller, possibly both). Completely discredited now, I suppose they can do no better than to whine about their "persecution."

I also noticed this article was in a newspaper from the Philippines, the home of many of the "psychic surgeons."
Not to mention the psychic Judge Floro and his three imaginary dwarves. And look who the ex-judge says has verified his powers.

What is the "service" she provides?

She tells grieving people that she can find the body of their missing relative or who has killed the relative.

Only she can't - we know this for a fact.

That's the "service" you think it is OK to charge grieving people for? That's cruel, T'ai Chi.

A few points to consider here:

1)
Randi is for all practical purposes people are judged overall, great.

2) Randi likes to fight...

3) ..the supernatural.

4) Randi believes humanity has hope, which is the most irrational belief of all.

5) The world doesn't actually make sense.

6) Randi doesn't give a crap.

7) Randi is the only person known to have been roundhouse kicked by Chuck Norris and survived, and still refuses to believe in divine intervention.
