I've always found O'Reilly books to be pretty thorough, reliable and (usually) clearly written.

So I was very pleased to find that all O'Reilly titles were on sale at my local B&N for 30% off. Being a B&N member, there was an additional 10% off of that, making for a total of 37% off the list price.

Looking at the O'Reilly books on the B&N web site, it looks like the discount is there as well. The sale was on in my local store through Nov 11.

Sorry for the commercial. I just like the books.

I walked out on B&N with two heavy bags, and my bank account a couple hundred bucks lighter...
 
I agree. They are good, but I'm afraid 99% still goes over my head.
 
Anyone else think RSL was talking about Bill O'Reilly and had lost his damn mind?
 
I've got their Java book I used it college; horribly outdated now I'm sure.

The Cookbooks and the references are good. The introductory books can be good (although I thought 'Learning Java' was poor). Recently, though, they have released some shoddy stuff.
 
I've been subscribing to O'Reilly's Safari for almost a year now. I'm paying $20 a month for online access to any 10 books (not just O'Reilly books) in the library. I'll probably drop to their lower price option at some point (5 books for $10 a month, no PDF downloads). You can remove a book from the bookshelf and add another after it's been on the shelf for 30 days.

Pros:
I like having access from home and work without hauling around a ton of books, the online search is nice.
Not filling my house up with books, and additional editions of books.
I've downloaded a few PDF's but not extensively.
35% off print books all the time

Cons:
cost
and sometimes i just like paper, but for reference material it's nice.

My brother always gives me the latest Bill O'Reily book for my birthday...fortunately, I've so far been able to take them back to Boarders or Barnes and Noble and exchange for another book, money or soft-core porn.
 
I just spent another $160 on PHP & MySQL O'Reilly books at B&N!

And there were at least another $400 I wanted to buy...
