Investigate journalists from the Danish State Broadcasting system, on a tip, went to Spain to investigate whether some doctors there would have no problem performing an abortion on a woman 8 months pregnant. Turns out they were right. The revelation, using hidden cameras etc, was just shown on TV here.

Any mention of this in the US press? (Sorry, I can't seem to find a link in English).

Not that I've heard. However, I'd watch out for tit-for-tat; I'm sure Spanish journalists are headed to Denmark to see what dirt they can dig up on you.

I am looking in my crystal ball and seeing a sudden influx of late-term pregnant women visiting Spain.

Isn't travelling in the last trimester, by air, high risk?

(Maybe that was what OBGYN told my wife was her risk, not a general risk.)

Bummer. I thought given the power of the religious fundies in American politics, this subject might have come up.

Oh, and the Spanish journalists are welcome here.

Are you saying the local religious fundies have little to no influence on American politics?

Are you saying religious fundies have total control over American politics?

You know we can play these strawman games all day. My point was quite clear that you over-estimate the power of "religious fundies"

Not personally. But the influx has been going on for quite a few years.

I guess I'm confused. What you described was an under-cover investigation that revealed that some docs on Spain would be willing to perform abortions as late as 8 months. Did the report also discuss this influx of women? Any speculations as to the cause? If that wasn't part of this program, where did you get that information?

Nope.

Now, if you could answer my question...?

Where was my strawman?

I overestime them? How?

Yes, it discussed the influx of women. Said the clinic investigated made millions from this business. Interviewed women who had used it several years ago, etc.

Speculations as to the cause? Yes...there's a market for women wanting very, very late abortions.

Did I mention that the doctor in the hidden camera taping said directly that they first poisoned the (viable) child and when it was dead, they then performed the abortion?

Unbelievable.

That there is enough of a market for this that one clinic could make millions is quite disturbing. The bigger question is why is there such demand? They may or may not have provided insight into the root causes, but I hope that someone involved in the story is looking into this.

Dont worry, theres religious nuts everywhere. Theres that crazy PC religion in Europe, Muslims in the middle east and south asia, catholics crawling out of every other third world hole. American baptists are just one face of a need to believe in total BS that is present in equal parts in every corner of the globe.

Personally, I don't think that is the bigger question. The bigger question is how this procedure, clearly against Spanish law, could exist for years in a large, well-staffed clinic in Spain.

What was the journalist's opinion on this matter?
