Was watching Fox and Friends First Edition this am while getting dressed (Lauren Green is hothothot, plus she's a classical pianist) and they had an item about North Korea's Kim Jong Il apparently apologizing to the Chinese foreign minister for their nuke test.

Someone on the program remarked, "Well, that's certainly a headscratcher..."

Kim Jong Il? Headscratcher?

I sniff a conspiracy here...

You mean someone has alleged that ole Kim might do something unpredictable? :jaw-dropp

Actually, I think every thing he has done has been quite predictable.

I'm of the opinion that if the rest of the world had isolated his country years ago, China would have grown tired of supporting him, and the people would have banded together with the military and kicked his butt out of power. Yes, it would have been bad for the people for a while. But I wonder how well the majority are doing now?

But instead, we've appeased him. Answering his threats with aid on promises of better behavior. Allowing him to further build up and support his military while his people continue to suffer.

What a mess we've made

Did you read the Kaplan piece Flo linked to in another thread? IIRC, 2/3 of NK's imports come from China.
