Breaking news, small plane hit NY building

I have a friend who lives exactly 4 blocks away from this. I just turned on the TV. I called her and got her machine. She walks all around her neighborhood. I'm really scared.

Too soon for assumptions, LL.

People leave their apartments all the time. Call her in a few more hours.

The chances that she got hurt by debris are infinitesimal, I wouldn't worry about it.

BTW, love that avatar. :D

Keep calm. It seems as if the response is tight, quick, and efficient. NORAD's up and going in case.

And have a few European hugs.

This is unfortunate. It's never good for there to be loss of life or property.

But come on! Anyone remember this. I hardly remember it, and I definitely don't remember it causing much of a stir. Simply because it wasn't in NYC.

This is the sort of crap that pisses me off about the Conspiranoids™ (bolding mine)

So what have we got here then? An airplane strikes a high rise building in New York City, there was a resulting fire -- and -- the building didn't fall down.

Great. Sad thing it happened for those killed. But another notch of proof rendered to show the official story even that much more of a joke. Airplane, fire, high rise, building stands.

to all the naysayers.
don't get the picture?
the plane took a turn into the building.
was flying erratically down the east river.
crash takes attention away from all the scandals just before the election.
white house looks heroic, scrambling fighter jets, etc.
ie; republicans will protect you from the terrorists.
notice the mention of 9/11 continually.
vote republican or this could be the real thing in other words.
they didn't have to pull another huge job like 9/11.
just enough to keep the populace afraid..........................

The joking here started not 20 posts in. Are we much better?
20 posts in, yes, but all of the first 20 posts? no

jokes arent even that bad IMO, helps people cope, all the loosers are talking about is how this helps them, they dont see it as a tragedy, they see it as a bolstering of their position

On CNN site right now:

The Federal Aviation Administration described the plane as a "general aviation" fixed-wing aircraft flying under visual flight rules, meaning a pilot was flying by visual landmarks.

The plane hit the Belaire Condominiums, built in 1989 at 524 E. 72nd Street near the East River. More than 150 firefighters are on scene of a four-alarm fire in the building.

The humor was inappropriate, but I think it was against the CTers, not the incident or the victims. I thought I was being somewhat too cynical, already thinking about how they'd spin it, and then I go over there and get really pissed, seeing how they actually are spinning it.

No, I don't think anyone here descended to their level by laughing at or being sarcastic about them.
