Apple Day festivities....the photographic proof!

It was such great fun. Thanks to everyone. Yes I sorely missed Truth not being there. She is everything Kitty said and so much more. I won't turn this into a sickly sweet love note although I easily could.

Thanks Zep, Truth speaks highly of you too.

And yes, there is a hit out on Johnny Depp.
Larry, could you please remind her that she has yet to send me copies of the pics she took in Australia last year. I know she's awfully busy most of the time, but she promised, and it's been 12 months! *sniff* :(

And ask her about the screaming dog in Mt Victoria...

That dog was so creepy!

I sent the CD ages ago. I wonder if one of your neighbours has it. I addressed it very clearly: "Zep, Axolot, Australia". I don't understand how it could have gone missing....

I will resend or create an online gallery for you, if you prefer.

And, I thought the problem with the picture below was Larry's lack of life jacket. But maybe I'm just overprotective.

Claus, I am ignoring your horrible news about Johnny. I need to get me some stalking binoculars....

:D I'll PM you my postal address! A CD would be fine - is that easiest for you?

Thought so too... Or maybe it's the Commie cormorants... Hmmm...

So when are you bringing Larry out to visit us here? We've got plenty of woods here too he could be in. Maybe he could do a comparison of houses in the woods across continents. I've seen PhD's written on sillier than that!

GG, all the convervatives live in New Hampshire and all the liberals live in Vermont. We like to keep them separated up here. ;)
In case you were wondering, the rude yuppies are in Connecticut, Rhode Island is where they forget to put milk in the clam chowder, Maine is completely empty except for bears, and Massachussetts is the Commonwealth of Blue Blooded Draft Dodgers (democrat ones only).

Edited to add: And people from New York & New Jersey don't know how to drive.

I used to drive an eighteen wheeler around the north-east. I think the lack of driving skills is a coastal thing. Must have something to do with the salt air.

:)

Good system. :D I'm conservative, but split my votes between parties. You must realize that I live in a state that has had only two Republican gubners since Reconstruction.

You got that right. But each state is different, for example:
Massachussetts - crazy and angry
Connecticut - inattentive and rude
New York/New Jersey - Left lane, 50mph

I feel for you if you had to drive a truck on any of the major roads in Connecticut. They are congested and annoying any time of day.

I drove for a grocery wholesaler (yeah, the one from Brattleboro) while attending college. It used to amaze me how, every time we would have a threat of a snow storm, people would go into panic shopping mode.

They would go to the store and load up with bread, milk, and water. And after the storm would hit, the roads might be bad for, what, maybe twenty-four hours? The folks in southern New England would do this crazy shopping as if it was going to be a major catastrophe, and yet, most live within a five mile radius of a supermarket, and maybe within a mile of a convenience store.

It's not as if the stores were going to run out of supplies. I know they wouldn't because whatever the weather, I was still out there in my truck just plugging along, trying to make the next stop.

I can't imagine how those same people would react if they were liiving where I do now, where a trip to the store can be a 100 mile round trip.

But, then again, all these photos have made me a little homesick for a visit back east. I guess I'll have to take a trip to Denver this weekend to remind me what driving in the city is like.

:D

ETA: Maybe it's not the salt air, maybe it's all the Dunkin' Donuts coffee being consumed while driving.

In Texas, if you approach someone from behind and are travelling much faster, they will generally pull over to the right so you can pass them without changing lanes.

NOT in Houston or Dallas or San Antonio, but in the country.

I used to live in Denver, Grayman. If you are driving there soon, let me know and I will pray for you

But you must separate out Long Island, on LI the rule is - "ME FIRST, I AM THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON ON THE ROAD, I AM DRIVING THE MOST EXPENSIVE CAR AND THEREFORE OWN THE ROAD."

Geek Goddess lives near where my sister went to graduate school. My sis said once or twice there was a tiny bit of snow/sleet on a winter morning, and the ensuing mayhem on the roads was pretty spectacular. She says that there were cars sliding around all over the place. Any truth to that GG? Or was she just exaggerating to make Texans look bad?
As far as CT is concerned, I think there are too many foreigners along the coast (foreigner: (noun) someone not born in NE). And the milk/bread purchasing is just a tradition...
