Do you know everything about the universe?

Yes or No?

And what does your answer say about god(s), paranormal, supernatural, etc, existing?

Planet X.

And it says that you are defining these things as "ignorance".

No.

And nothing.

Are you saying that not knowing everything means that the unknowable is inevitable?

WTF? I don't even know everything that humans know about the universe. How could I possibly consider answering Yes?

By stating your religion. That's the definition of religion that my World History teacher taught me: an institution that humans create to explain the unexplainable. Indeed, it would be comforting to have such a sense of order from your universe, and to know the answer to all of those pesky questions like "why are we here?"

And who knows? Perhaps there are answers to those questions, and perhaps one day we might even figure them out. But not today; not from any human on this planet, anyway.

Sorry Tai Chi, but this isn't a very significant poll topic. Are we going to get two schools of argument here, the Know it Already Alls vrs. The We Don't Know Jack Yeters?

I see the actual question is are there any supernaturals out there we haven't met yet? The implication being that since we don;t know it all yet, maybe there are. Well, maybe. I saw this Star Trek episode where they went to the edge of the Universe and it was pretty paranormal. I mean if there was an edge ....

But my ignorance doesn't give me enough of anything to construct a belief upon.
Sure there could be space monsters like in Master of Orion 3. For now that's just where they will have to remain: in a PC game or a cheesy SF story.

I know everything about the universe. The universe, it seems, tends to disagree rather often, but if there's one thing I can't stand, it's an uppity universe.

T'ai Chi, are you ever going to ask a meaningful question, or is your whole schtick just trying to look deep by asking vague unanswerable questions? :nope:

Actually, come to think of it, the question you pose in this OP is bloody easy to answer, because anyone who says yes is either lying or delusional. Which is why it's meaningless.

You know it ALL?! Quick! Where did I leave my old floppy disk? In coordinates. *thinks* In the coordinate system I WANT you give it to me in (you should know what that is).

hummm 3 to 5 so far. the universe is winning so far, was there another answer you were expecting?

Do you know everything about the universe?
Nope, don't know everything yet. I'm hopeful though.

And what does your answer say about god(s), paranormal, supernatural, etc, existing?
It says there are margins I don't know. Maybe there is a god, but at this point I have no evidence for one. Without evidence, I have no reason to postulate a god.

Sincerely,
a friendly, fence-sitting agnostic

In response to the original post.

Don't know everything yet. I'm confident we'll learn more in the future, perhaps much more. As to knowing EVERYTHING, that may or may not ever happen. Realistically, not, but that doesn't matter to me. It's enough to simply have a lot of knowledge to look forward to, as a species.

What does this say about paranormal existing? Nothing at all. End of line.

But if I did, I would either rule it - or die of despair. Depends on the things I don't know about it - though not nearly all of them.:D

You're welcome to not participate then, of course. Obviosuly it is asked of those who wish to answer in a non-negative manner and actually contribute to the poll results.

Do you know everything about the universe?

Yes or No?

No. Obviously nobody does and anyone who thinks they can answer yes has a lot to answer for.

And what does your answer say about god(s), paranormal, supernatural, etc, existing?

The answer says the same thing about god(s) and the paranormal, etc that it says about every other fantasy without a shred of evidence. Anything may be possible, but only fools assume things exist without any evidence for those things existance.

, but only fools assume things exist without any evidence for those things existance.

A few points which I may or may not agree or disagree with, probably (tee hee):

1) How bout' those fools who answered Yes? ;)

2) Some people look at the universe itself as evidence and make an inference
