"Bead Cave," anyone?

Oooooh, I'm so excited! I get to go to TAM!

So, I'm wondering something:

I'm a bead artisan, and have been doing beadworking for almost 15 years.
I have a lot of beads. Let me say that again, just to clarify:

I. have. a. LOT. of. beads.

And cordage, needles, findings, other supplies. I could keep a decent number of folks occupied for a long time. I can teach beading, too,

Would anyone, male or female, be interested in attending a Bead Cave during TAM? A Bead Cave is just a bunch of people sitting in one place, doing beadwork, learning beadwork, or just oohing and ahhing over how many danged beads I have.

If anyone would like to share this for a few hours at TAM, I am happy to load up my gear and bring it all.

And it would be free. No charge, nada. Come make stuff with my beads that you can take home with you! Come steal my beads!

So. Let me know. There is no max/min: just one person would be enough for me.

I know there are some serious knitters on the board - here and on Skepchick. Hopefully there isn't some stupid turf war over hobbies, but I would think the two groups might get along just fine. IIRC, Fowlsound's new spouse (avhienda - spelling?) is a knitter. Just a thought.

CT, cool! I have a knitted beaded bag a friend made for me. I also have a friend who crochets wire.

Crafters tend to get along. It's easier to steal ideas from people who will actually talk to you. ;)

I do heavy-duty quilting, but the annual international quilting festival in Houston usually has about 35,000 people go through the doors each year. Maybe I'll bring my needlepoint instead, it's more portable.

I was more heavy duty when I was designing. But, seriously, a few visits to the Vermont Quilt Festival did me in...though my Alice in Wonderland redwork design (adaptation I should add....) does still do rather well.

But after I went to a real quilt show I was like "I do NOT know how to quilt!"

I'd love to see photos!

Oh, for the love of god. There are more of you out there? My best friend took up knitting, crocheting, and wire bending stuff this past year, and is currently obsessed with it. When she made a doily, I almost called off the friendship, until she explained that crocheting was the new uber-coolness. I still don't believe that part, but she puts up with all my dorky crap so I guess I can put up with receiving things like a crocheted cactus with a smiley face in a pot for my birthday. She used to get me computer games. :cool:
 
I quilt too, my quilts are a bit out there.

I am sure we could have fun at the Skepchicks party with all sorts of craft stuff. Not sure I could bring my quilting stuff with me, though. The quilt I am working on now is large.

It would be fun to learn how to do beading. Not that I need any other hobbies, but I am always curious to learn more.

No, slingblade, bring your beads.It does sound cool. I would like to learn how it is done. :)

Of course, before you tote a bunch of stuff, see if others want to try too. I don't want you to tote all that if I am the only one.

I won't be bringing any quilting with me, I will be bringing games, though.

Thank you! There are over 300 fabrics in that one. These are NOT your grandma's quilts. I don't like Aunt Bea OR her quilts! None of that scrappy pastel farmhouse cutsey look for me (Sunbonnet Sue Must Die) The one of the web site was my 'headboard' over my bed for several years until I could afford a real one. These are not my quilts, but represent the kinds I like

Are you familiar with Sue Pierce's project "The Art Quilt - A Full Deck"?

I collect unusual playing cards, so the exhibit was of particular interest to me.

Here is a page about it on my playing card web site.

There is a similar project where a group of cross-stitch artists designed a deck of cards as well.

Yep, I actually got see a few of those, after the deck was broken up. I wish I had talent...or at least, some ARTISTIC talent.
