Did Elton John predict 9/11 (specifically flight 93)?

When are you gonna come down
When are you going to land
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man

You know you can't hold me forever
I didn't sign up with you
I'm not a present for your friends to open
This boy's too young to be singing the blues

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road

What do you think you'll do then
I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again

Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

Remember that this suspect lyric came out before (before!!!!!) 9/11.

I don't know. I guess I'm just grasping at straws and there is really nothing more relevant left to post about the conspiracy (i.e. I'm mimicking basically any post on LC these days).

Are you sure about that?? :D

I reckon Alanis Morissette was in cahoots with the terrorists:

He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
'Well isn't this nice...'

Sure, those lyrics might be taken out of context, but that's the standard MO, isn't it?

We'd better stop this before we give the LC'ers ideas...

And what did Deep Purple know in advance?

Warning came, no one cared.
Earth was shakin', we stood and stared.
When it came no one was spared.
Still I hear "Burn!"

quick before they move the thread to humor

How about the Nashville Teens' Tobacco Road. Silverstein must cringe when he hears they called his crimes so many years ago.....

Bring dynamite
And a Chain
Blow it Up
And Start All Over Again

Ok then Obviously Led Zepplin's "When the Levee Breaks" totally predicted (without a doubt) Hurricane Katrina in a huge way... right down to the way the music was played in pure New Orleans blues style.

"When The Levee Breaks"
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, [X2]
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, [X2]
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned, [X2]
Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home.
Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you...
Going down... going down now... going down..
The thing is someone has always lived this stuff before and history repeats itself in one way or another.

Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
The photograph on the dashboard,
taken years ago,
turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.
Still, it's so much clearer.
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge.
The moon is low tonight.

Nightswimming
deserves a quiet night.
I'm not sure all these people understand.
It's not like years ago,
The fear of getting caught,
of recklessness and water.
They cannot see me naked.
These things, they go away,
replaced by everyday.

Nightswimming,
remembering that night.
September's coming soon.
I'm pining for the moon.
And what if there were two
Side by side
in orbit
Around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum
could not describe
nightswimming.

You, I thought I knew you.
You I cannot judge.
You, I thought you knew me,
this one laughing quietly
underneath my breath.
Nightswimming.

The photograph reflects,
every streetlight a reminder.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet
night, deserves a quiet night.

and then, the true nature of the conspiracy:
And who are these ones who would have us now
Whose presence in concealed
Whose nature is revealed in a time bomb
Gordon Lightfoot, "Protocol"

The work of fiction that best 'predicts' the 9/11 attacks is the pilot episode of "The Lone Gunmen" TV series. Our friend Killtown has a page on this episode that he uses as evidence of a conspiracy:

http://www.cloakanddagger.de/media/LONE GUNMEN/Killtowns.htm

You should suggest that to the 9/11 deniers timeline thread.

March 2001 - Government controlled media airs an episode from The Lone Gunman to see if people will find the upcoming fake attacks plausible and believable.

Infinite, don't forget the Tragically Hip's "New Orleans Is Sinking":

"New Orleans Is Sinking"

Bourbon blues on the street loose and complete
Under skies all smoky blue-green
I can Forksake the dixie dead shake
So we dance the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim

Colonel Tom What's wrong? What's Going On
You can't tie yourself up for a deal
He said" Hey North you're south shut you big mouth
You gotta do what you feel is real."
Ain't got no picture postcards ain't go no souvenirs
My baby she don't know me when I'm thinking about thoes years

Pale as a light bulb hanging on a wire
Sucking up to someone just stoke the fire
Picking out the highlights of the scenery
Saw a little cloud looked a little like me

I had My hand in the river
My feet back up on the banks
Looked up to the Lord above and said hey man thanks
Some time I fell so good I gotta scream
She says Gordie baby I know exactly what you mean
She said, she said I swear to God she said

My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim
