Oh, right. Never mind, I never mentioned it.

Denying one's genes is frowned upon here - almost as much as hiding one's talents. I shall, however, remain silent on the matter, entertaining a hope that the flight contraption is available in a size 2 and comes with a free neck-brace.

Welcome back, BTW.

It seems like the "pilot" would have to jump out of a plane and free fall for a while (or do something else to get some speed up to achieve some aerodynamic stability) before he started up the jets.

This seems like a great invention for those who dislike walking. Moreso because all that's going to be left on the end of their legs are stumps.

It sure looks like a fun way to travel!

Now, if I can just find someone take me to 33,000 feet to try it out, I could determine just how much fun the system actually is.

By the way, I would feel much better about using the system if it had its own parachute as opposed to being thetered to me during my parachute descent.

It would probably be best to do some un powered versions to see how controlable it is.

And really what is wrong with those powered paragliders where you wear a big fan on your back? They seem much more practical than this thing

I feel more nose and chin protection is required before landing one of these.

O.K., What is the 2l of fuel supposed to be for, making a contrail ?

Are we supposed to believe it is going to fuel even a micro turbojet
for more than a few seconds, much less develop enough thrust to move much of
anything, very far or very fast...

Before I read the article I thought: " Hmmmm.. Where's the fuel ? "

I just read it again .. The engines are only speculative ..

The turbojets are expected to weigh around 7kg (15.4lb) each and could be model aircraft engines, industrial impellers or a new design.

Uhhh, huuuh... I'l go with ' New design ..' Something that violates one or two of Newton's laws...

See, my problem with this is that the US currently owns the air. We can incur on anybody's airspace pretty much without fear of being spotted, let alone challenged. So why the heck would we need to be able to fly/glide/plummet our special forces 100 miles from their drop point? And do it with a piece of equipment too big to be hidden? The glider-type parachutes should be sufficient for pinpoint landings.

Too expensive with not enough upside, as far as I can tell. But cooooool. Man, are they cool!
