Since I was not a member of the JREF Forum during TAM4, I was not aware if people had their JREF Forum screen names on their name tags so if they did, disregard this.

If they did not, would it be difficult to set this up? It would be helpful and fun for people who converse regularly on the Forum but have never met each other face to face to be able to recognize each other at TAM5. Of course, it would be voluntary.

Just a suggestion. :D

Yes indeed we did, and avatars too. In fact, I didn't have a proper delegate namebadge (I blame Jeff Wagg :P) so I wore my tkingdoll one exclusively.

There are still people I met at TAM4 who don't know my actual name.

I forget who made those up. Was it Girl6? They were great - I stapled my two tags together so both showed but most of the people I interacted with knew me by my screen name. For that matter - most of the people I met I still only know by their screen name.

I think it was Girl6 yes, and I agree they were superb.
Superb indeed, but if I might make some suggestions to increase their superbosity...

1. Larger font size
2. Larger Avatar

Yes, the avatars will lose quality when enlarged, but that, along with increasing the font size, will make it MUCH easier to see ho someone is without walking up and sticking your face into their chest (although this has its advantages as well).

I was talking with some fellow forumites at TAM4, and it was mentioned that it would be nice to somehow pick out the forumites in a crowd. Tee-shirts and/or hats were suggested, as were helium balloons and magnesium flares.

Each has their advantages and disadvantages.

I don't know the answer, I just know that it would have been nice, when looking out over a sea of people, to know which ones I might have already known from the board. For example, when choosing a table to sit at during one of the lunches/dinners.

On the other hand....

....if you lunch with non-forumites, you have an excellent chance of hija...persuading them to join the forum.

I think we could hire a tattoo artist to tattoo our foreheads, yes?

I'm hoping that hologram technology will make a huge leap forward in the next six months so that we can all have programmable hats that project our screen names and avatars above our heads.

Like in Samuel Delany's "Dhalgren" -- JREF could cosplay the Scorpions.

Hmmm......we'd have to arrive 3 days beforehand for all of us to get our tattoos done too.

We still get the room rate discount then, yes?
