A political challenge...

I posted a sampling of the worst of what I found and was guided to.

Before I posted, there was speculation as to whether I would weasel out of actually providing a list. I went ahead and posted it, and so far have managed to quiet down the active Ann Coulter thread there that had reached 13 pages... though I don't know if that was me, or if people are just losing interest.

So, no response yet.

I've come to notice that libs acknowledge and notice the wackos on their side but the right-wingers tend to pretend the wackos on their side don't exist.

BTW. Could you post the list here for us to see?

Or, if they do acknowledge the wackos on their side, they like to equate or liken their wackos to the not-quite-so wackos on the left.

(E.g., "Sure Ann Coulter is a little out there, but how is that different from Al Franken?")

Speaking of hateful speech, I remember a SNL bit Franken did with his partner (Al?) Davis, that was modelled after Johnny Carson's "Carnack the Great" mentalist comedy routine (for the uninitiated, "Carnack" would hold a sealed envelope to his head and answer the question in the sealed envelope, which would then be opened and read, making the question effectively the punch line).

Anyway, this was when the Shah was dying and it was widely reported his internal organs were failing. Franken held the envelope up to his head, closed his eyes, and intoned, "Little Friskies Liver and Kidneys Cat Food." Davis opened the envelope and read the question back: "What will they do with the Shah after he dies?"

Yeah, despotic monarchs need love too.

Just remember that next time you wanna complain about Coulter's post-September 11 comment that we should bomb the Taliban, kill their leaders, and Christianize their country.

Why? The two are completely and fundamentally different. Frankin was making fun of the death of a tyrant, Ann Coulter was advocating the replacement of one theocracy with another and the forcful religious conversion of innocent civilians. The fact that you equate the two reveals much about your loyalties.

Franken was mocking the impending death of a tyrant, Coulter was calling for the death of people involved in the murder of 3000 Americans, including a personal friend of hers. How many Americans did the Shah kill?

So you're reduced to lying about this issue. She said, (your words):

...should bomb the Taliban, kill their leaders, and Christianize their country.

She called for the forceful conversion of regular Afghan to Christianity.

How many Americans did the Shah kill?

Who gives a *****? My metric for measuring the evil of a regime isn't predicated on how many American deaths the regime is responsible for. Using your silly metric, the Confederacy is worse than the Taliban, Saddam Hussien, North Korea and the USSR combined.

I know; it's based on how many of its leaders go to church on Sunday.

Hmm, so this thread has reduced you to a liar and someone who makes pathetic ad homs. That is the typical right-wing reaction when you've been shown to be utterly wrong.

Please, kindly take the debate over specific quotes to another thread--we've got enough Coulter threads, we don't need another one started here. That's not my intent for this...

Here's what I quoted:

"Oh, you're one of the sodomites! You should only get AIDS and die, you pig! How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig? You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage? You got nothing to do today? Go eat a sausage and choke on it. Get trichinosis. Okay, got another nice caller here who's busy because he didn't have a nice night in the bath house and is angry at me today?"
--Michael Savage

"...these big-mouthed, phony scum of the ACLU, who should be rounded up, arrested for sedition. Their property seized, and they should be put into Abu Ghraib prison as far as I'm concerned. That wouldn't be enough of what I'd like to see done to the ACLU. They're the worst vermin America has ever tolerated. The worst vermin in the history of America are the vermin in the ACLU."
--Michael Savage, June 19, 2004

VESTER: "You say you’d rather not talk to liberals at all?"
COULTER: "I think a baseball bat is the most effective way these days."
(FOX News Channel, DaySide with Linda Vester, 10/6)

"[Learning difficulties are a cover for] rich parents with dumb kids...That's why 'Pinch' Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times, is alleged to have dyslexia - because he's retarded"--Ann Coulter, The Independent, 16 August, 2004

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."
--Ann Coulter

"Did you know there's a White House dog?"
--Rush Limbaugh (showing a picture of Chelsea Clinton at 13)

"If Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead."
--Bill O'Reilly, after San Francisco voted to ban military recruiters from city schools, Nov. 8, 2005.

"Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up like Newt Gingrich wants to do." –Pat Robertson, on wiping out the State Department

"Homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers." Pat Robertson, 700 Club, 1/18/95

"Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests." ... "They've got a big target on there, ATF. Don't shoot at that, because they've got a vest on underneath that. Head shots, head shots.... Kill the sons of bitches."
--G. Gordon Liddy, 1994

"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good...Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want pluralism."
-—Randall Terry, 1993

Still the last message of the thread...

I agree.

Do you have any updates about this Gnome?

Most conservative personalities I hear on the box thoroughly and dutifully bash the "libs" and retreat to "independant status when equal folly expresses itself on the conservative side.

Not a thing--they've been silent on that thread ever since.

I figured as much. Keep their feet to the fire and see if they'll come to the defense of that crap or if they'll acknowledge that conservatives are known to utter hateful and unamerican rhetoric.

I'm not bumping it, I don't think... I want to wait and see if they make the same argument again (that the left has the market on spiteful rhetoric cornered)... THEN I'll point to the thread.

In the meantime I enjoy the idea of the original challengers having no response.
