Psychics and Missing People

Guess I should have read here first.

Glad to hear you're keeping your sense of humor.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful graduation for your son.

Take care of you.

Glad you are OK, even if a bit stressed. I was getting a bit worried about you. I would hate anything to happen to you. There are a few people in this world who because they exist make the world a different place, far beyond their own backyard. You are one of these people.

I do not have Luke T. writing skills, but he did write about how I think of you.

Thanks Elaine and RJH.

I'm feeling a little less stress as I have almost everything ready for tomorrow, plus I had conversations with both the mom and dad of the murdered child, Amber Harris. I wanted to make sure they are doing some self-care and have begun a process of healing. They are, so that makes me feel better.

If you watch America's Most Wanted tonight at 8pm, they will be showing her story. When they originally came and filmed it, it was to help locate her. Sadly, now it is to locate her killer(s).

When they are showing the interview with her parents in the living room, I am sitting to their right. It will be interested to see how they edit it. It will also be interesting to see what the police say. There were many things they should have done differently. Just recently, they decided to state that they had classified her as missing rather than as a runaway in the beginning, but that is not true at all. In fact, we had people trying to put pressure on them to change the status. They finally did.

I don't know if they will show it or not, but the father was wearing one of my son's photo buttons on his shirt.

HI Suzan,

Thank you for fighting the good fight when it comes to these predators.

I know who the profiler is you are speaking of. Is he in on engaging the psychics?

I have written to people connected with this family and warned about this, but have never received a reply.

In Carla Baron's special site dedicated to her coming series "Haunting evidence" everyone is worshipping Carla and as I registered to that site, I wrote a PM to one of the family members of the missing woman, as that person is very excited about the coming show "Haunting Evidence" and optimistic when it comes to Baron finding the body. (The episode is already recorded and will be shown in June and everyone is extatic about it on the site but why? Obviously she hasn't found the body, because then she would have to tell the police.)

In my PM I told this family member about a recent similar television serial in both Sweden and Norway, where the best psychics from both countries tried to solve murders and/or find bodies from 10 cold cases in each country. They even had cops in the studios that promised to act on the information. And they did - sometimes they even came back to the psychics and requested more detailed information. Everyone was so excited; all the fantastic leads that those psychics gave! The relatives had given their permission and were impressed by the mediums kindness and knowledge about the dead persons.

Six months later one big newspaper in Sweden (and according to whats written from norwegians, the same goes for Norway) called the police in each and every case. In NONE of the swedish 10 cases had there been a murderer caught or a body found or even a plausible lead to investigate. Despite that, the series was sent a second time with 10 new cases. Absolutely nothing came up this time, and waddayathink? No more programs are planned...

I tried to sound as nice as I could in my PM and I told her that I didn't say that psychics couldn't read thoughts etc (Baron had told her things that "noone could know" and the families of the missing ones in Sweden had said the same things about their psychics) but the fact was that everywhere in the western world mediums are worthless in finding dead bodies. If the poor woman would be found it would be the result of painstaking police work and science. The result was that I was immediately banned from the site (I had never posted anything, just this PM), something I can live with.

In 1948 the worldfamous medium Peter Hurkos flew to Sweden to find out what had happened to a girl in the Swedish countryside that just vanished from the earth. He told everyone that she was killed and pointed out the place, or rather places - noone found anything. Our best known swedish medium - the late Saida - had a huge following and helped people 'to find lost things', and in one of the most sensational disappearances, a newspaper paid her to find a lost little boy. "Yes he was sexmurdered and lay in a certain lake 20 kilometers from his home". Actually his uncle killed him and had not molested him; the boy was found stuffed under his own bed.

I have read about how Jason disappeared in broad daylight in the street and since I take it he wouldn't accept a ride from someone he didn't know, it's one of the most uncomprehensible disappearances of them all. I understand that family members in their desperation turn to psychics, but the lousy success rates means something. When you read about their claims - not to mention their impertinence - on Kellys blog, you almost refuse to believe your eyes.

IT's too bad that family appears not to be listening. It could be that some of them don't believe in psychics, but they want the media attention, so they go along with it. Others might truly believe Baron in their desperation for answers.

Ambiguous losses, such as Jason's are difficult. Some families of the missing have some clues to follow, strong ideas about what happened, and even have "persons of interest" to watch.

In my experience as a family advocate, most of them have been correct in their theories about the fate of their missing loved ones. Regardless of whether they have clues or none, they sometimes still turn to anyone and anything they think might provide the answer, including psychics. :(

This is why I hate some media personalities and outlets as much as I hate psychics. They lend validity to these psychic predators. After their appearance on such a show, these psychics can put their TV appearance on their resume to impress other potential victims. This is how they become "world famous". And the cops are idiots for participating, because the psychics can claim they worked with the police on missing persons cases. It does not matter that they didn't actually accomplish anything.

These people are aiding and abetting thievery and emotional abuse.

I hate them all.

I believe there are many things happening in this case simultaneously, and each has their own motive for their part. Some good...some not so good :(
It is easy to get lost in the maze..when your hurt on such a tragic level.

The need to keep the case in the spotlight (to solve it). Is the only one that I can see (that has come about from the negativity) that is of any use to solving the case.

Just a note* This Ga case.... has become the most brutal of cases I think I have ever seen. I have been a part of Missing Person cases for almost 20 years, and have never....seen such division. I believe it will set a precedent on the subject of psychics and others as well. I certainly hope she is found, and I look forward to those that played a negative role or having ulterior motives as being exposed. I would hate to see this happen again to any family.

You might drop them a note again, and tell them of your experience on this subject.

Very upsetting, indeed

Kelly, as the father of a nine-year-old girl, I am very saddened to hear of your ordeal. I know I would go berserk if my Wallis went missing.

I am angered that so many frauds and charlatans are trying to take advantage of your pain for their gain. It whittles down my already jaded faith in humanity.

Most important thread in the forum?

At least for newcomers and/or those that are unsure of what’s really true. And I don’t mean only because it’s about important and heartbreaking issues for the families involved. The cold cases of murder and missing persons are in themselves the number one proof against the false mediums. Why? Well I am repelled by the view in here that organic vegetables, chiropractors and astrology are the same crap, also when I see how often people ask ”How can anyone be so stupid as to believe in the mediums”etc.

What are we supposed to do? If our near and dear friends or family that perhaps have been sceptics before, are instantly converted to believers because of a clairvoyants gift of knowing things that they couldn’t possibly know, are we to accuse them of being gullible or even lying? Perhaps we have seen one or two strange things ourselves?

If zillions of TV-.shows, newspapers and fans of Geller, Baron, and Dubois are spitting out stories of how they did this and that in controlled circumstances, why should we accept that the equally one-sided supporters of Randi are the ones telling the truth when they are debunking the ploy, assuring us that they have checked everything and it’s crap? We have no possibility of checking anything, both sides can say whatever they want.

But when it comes to reinvestigating cold cases of murder, or missing persons, the mediums make their claims and we WILL find out if it’s true. If a murderer is caught it’s easy to find out; he will be accused in a court of law and it will be in the news. Also if one of the known missing persons bodies are found (or luckily found alive) that will also be reported in the news as these cases are very famous. So when I do not really know what I should believe, I will finally go to those cases where the mediums have ”helped” the police with the investigations.

And since not even ONE of those cases were solved or ANYTHING was found, then sheer statistics say that it’s baloney.

Hello, and thank you for caring.

I want to respond to your last statement as such: Even though humans have committed such atrocities towards us, all in all, in this experience of tragedy, my faith in mankind has been elevated.

In the past 5 years, I have been told countless stories of strangers helping us. Friends and family have continued to support us and will not let Jason be forgotten. Over and over again, we have been blessed in good things that have happened, even in the darkest times. I see that people are, for the most part, good.

You can even look to this thread for numerous examples of the kindness bestowed upon us. I was a stranger to the people in this forum; a stranger with different beliefs, but yet the core of who we all are as individuals melted away to reveal that we are all the same underneath, and that goodness overrode those differences without hesitation.

Someday, I hope to be able to tell all of those pyschics off. Every single one of them says that my son is dead. He might be, yes, but I doubt the story of his fate will be the same as what they think.

There is a "psychic" on another site who has named the killers of our local case, here, the little girl. I want the police to find her killer(s) whoever they are. Since it is highly unlikely that he is right, I will be sure to "out" him when the time comes. To play it safe, he picked 2 sex offenders in the neighborhood.

In the norwegian shows 2 completely innocent persons were pointed out by the psychics - a woman who was cleared by the police as a potential hit-and-run driver, and a man who was accused of murdering a small girl but could prove that he was away on a cruise-ship that day. Since the norwegian show ran for at least 3 seasons, the number of cases in Sweden and Norway - including some danish cases - was actually 40-50. The psychics pointed out sites to dig and the cops dug and dug and found NOTHING...

But something good came out of it. That absolutely nothing was found is known by many people as it was in the biggest newspapers. More shows were planned in Sweden but with this flop, the TV channel gave it up. I believe that they have given up in Norway too.

In the Joe Power (self-professed psychic) topic on here, an article reported that Power had spit out a name as the name of the person who was responsible for the disappearance of someone.

I suggested it would be a great idea if someone posed as a psychic the next time someone, preferably a minor girl, disappeared and then named Joe Power the culprit.

Sounds like the psychic in your local case deserves the same treatment.

What exactly would happen if I claimed to be psychic and said Sylvia Browne killed Natalee Holloway? What could she do to me, really?

Considering how much TV exposure she gets, do you really want to try to beat her at her game? I see Luke T. suddenly becoming America's Most Wanted.
